300 = Awesome Movie (in Off-topic)

I just got back from an advanced screening of 300.

All I have to say is: Awesome.

Really? There's is SO MUCH hype about 300 right now I was expecting it to be overrated.

Ignore the hype, and just watch the movie for what it is.

Any movie that is hyped a lot will likely lead to disappointment... so I just ignore hype as much as possible.

is it as "goofy" as sin city?

No. It is a very different movie from Sin City.

I'm not really sure what to compare it to. Gladiator comes to mind.

Just found out it's not out over here till 30th... :(

I love Frank Miller; Sin City was Frank Miller on the screen, so I loved it. If they've done the same (Frank on the screen) and judging by the trailer they have, then I'll probably like this too.

I haven't read the graphic novel so I can't compare the two.

Well I loved the original "The 300 Spartans" that I believe the graphic novel was based off, so I imagine I will enjoy this one just as much if not more.

My understanding is that the movie is true to the graphic novel, right down to the color palette.

Haven't seen it yet but am awaiting with excitement.

Just saw this today, and must say, it was awesome! I read the Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield, so I went into it thinking it would be totally out there and completely miss the mark. But I was suprised to see it held to the original pretty well. The fantasy element is pretty strong, but for a movie, I thought it actually enhanced it quite well. I think this is a must see. I'm going again next Friday. =]

Saw it... AWESOME! Wickedly ridiculously awesome... and the best part is, I thought it was going to be that good! So listen to all the hype... it's really that good. =)
