Supporter Items Idea (in General)

Ok, little bit of controversy about the latest nerf. We all know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I was thinking about supporter items being a fixed size, like the old CB1 supporter items used to be. With the way items affect PR in CB2 this isn't really worthwhile, because a new player wouldn't actually be able to use them for a while. But if a max weapon level was introduced then it would make sense to fix the size of a supporter item weapon again.

That would have stopped all the fuss over VB's stone dead from day one....

If you followed past threads, you would have noted Jon saying he wanted Supporter items in cb2 to actually be useful throughout the game.

Hence the MgS, the ROE, the TSA, etc...

The VB used to be in that category, but now is in the Mithril Cuirass category of items.

Yup, I know what Jon has been trying to do. I just think it would be better if supporter items went back to the days of being handy for a little while, then provided a bit of finance for a newish player to move up to the more useful items.

A lot of us feel the same way you posted.

However, it is not Jon's intention. I do personally like the idea of supporter items being useful, but with the MgS and the old VB, they are "must have" type of items.

PM, I'd throw the HoC in there as well.

You're not seriously suggesting the Glaive of Pain and Mace of Destruction are you?

Add SoD in there (Sling of David, not Sling of Death) and I may just have to say this is the coolest suggestion ever. - If I recall correctly, SoD did actually have a fixed 15 PTH, not sure though.

Some of those CB1 items were pretty fun. I guess not as many people would buy them because how many people had much use for a GoP? And these days, HoC, MgS, TSA, you'd be nuts not to either cough up $6USD or 600k.

Still... it'd be nice.

But as for making this change so peoples' supporter items aren't made useless after the money they put into them, that's part of CB. If you can smell a change coming then you either trade for a different weapon or accept the risk.

Ah, Sling of David, my favourite CB item ever. Mine was called Giantkiller. Yes, that would be cool!
