Compared to an elb without archery how well does:
An axbow or exbow hit?
A sling hit?
Anyone know?

Ive been using a sling for the past 130 ba or so, and Id say its either very hit or miss. (granted my character is ultra low level) but Generally i think its not bad.
Are you talking about to hit or damage?

I'm pretty sure what he is asking is what is the CTH of the other weapons.

I'm assuming he means hit chance. Axbow/Exbow are so so. If you aren't using a ToA, you'll basically never hit in the first 2 rounds against someone with decent evasion (or dex+dbs) at comparative level. The last round (or last 2 with hoc) you'll have 0 penalties and the the lowest bonuses to enemy evasion so you may be able to land a hit or two. I can't speak on slings but I believe they have similar ranged penalties to xbows?
The thing with the axbow/exbow is they often go unaccounted for in people's strategies so they're wide open to having their tanks or random mages/enchanters with elven gear get auto targetted and multi-hit several times in ranged.

with an ex/axbow you have a good chance of hitting them, because their tank usually has an AoI and BL/Archery. Therefore no Evasion trained. A lot of tanks also don't have a pair of DB (expensive) so you're probably guaranteed to hit a tank like that.
People usually have Evasion trained on a wall or meatshield which gets hit first, thinking if others can't hit that, then they're safe and they win. That's where the ax/exbow twist (You could call it) comes in.
I always get between 5 and 8 hits total in ranged with a +61 axbow, even against TOA users where their dex is going to be higher than mine.

Ok,
Anyone know the hard facts.
IE without archery you have a 20% chance to hit vs with archery and an elb.
With an axbow what is the % chance opposed to ELB/archery?

PM,
I don't know if there is a definitive answer to this. Jon's original changelog states "Slings and xbows also have slightly greater penalty to to-hit during 1st and 2nd rounds of ranged (but not 3rd round). " which doesn't say much.
What I do know is this: penalties in ranged only seem to affect the weapon itself. Strikes attributed to dex gap, and ToA bonus PTH don't appear to be affected. My current character, as my previous, is using an ELB with only +11 PTH and no archery and yet I hit double strikes all the time.
====================================
And testing with an exbow with a PTH of +35 I find that those doubles actually rise to triple strikes....
Now that's either an extra PTH hit or the penalties aren't as high for the other ranged weapons as they are for the bow.
Sounds like a good job for Duke....
what i do know is the SoD or any other slings have a higher CTH then any other ranged weapon out there.
