Suggestion for common combat weapons. (in General)

Talion April 26 2007 2:13 PM EDT

I noticed that most combat weapons generated in the weapons store are not used except for the Two-handed Flail.

What if all common combat weapon would get generated with a random damage modifier? The modifier would of course be generated within certain limits.

For example, you could have the following categories:

Dagger : 4 (current)
Pike : 17 (current)
Every other One-Handed weapon: 10 to 45
Every other Two-Handed weapon: 35 to 70

The randomness could be attributed to the changing forging quality at creation time.

Why am I suggesting this? Well, it is all in the spirit of role-playing. I would love to create a tank minion modeled after a typical dwarf. So arming it with a Beaked Axe generated with a damage modifier of 63 would be nice.

I am suggesting this without any knowledge of the implementation complexity. So feel free to shoot it down.

What is this, Diablo?

Lol, the site that brought me to CB in the first place described CB2 as ''hack and slash like diablo''. I mean, whaaat?

But more on topic, as long as the store weaps don't become as strong as rares, I don't see anything wrong with your idea. It's not like store weapons leech life of negate AC, huh?

i too have thought about the many low end items that are out there, would they be nice if they had a small attribute that would not increase, say like + 1% aura or +1% FB damage, or +1% (insert your own idea) but also should come with a price of some caliber....

Umm...No Diablo 2, Mr. AoAC Would the weapon randomness be worth all of the hassle? The nubs tend to move onto Katana's or Ex's pretty quickly.

Okay, CB jacked up my post hardcore style.

What I meant to say was :

No, Diablo 2, Mr. AoAc (Th00p).

Would the weapon randomness be worth all of the hassle? The nubs tend to move onto Katana's or Ex's pretty quickly.

Or instead, it could be easier...

The Katana and the Executioner's Sword could have several different names.

For example, when generated, the Katana could be one of the following:

- Katana
- Paladin's Mace
- Barbed Flail
- etc...

Same for the Executioner's Sword.

i came across a couple hundred different names for the same types of gear. here, and here

Talion April 26 2007 3:34 PM EDT

Very funny... sigh!

Of course my suggestion implied that there would be only 2 or 3 **fixed** names for both weapon types. It would just add a touch of variety.

Or you could just name your weapon of choice to "A Beaked Axe" :D

Talion April 27 2007 4:17 PM EDT

Wasp, that would be a very interesting comment and would deserve an intelligent reply if it wasn't the EXACT SAME comment posted by [TH]Riddlebox just a few lines above yours and to which a reply was posted directly above your post.

Do we really even need so many different weapons when the majority of people use rare/valuable items?
