I made top 10!!! (in Off-topic)

TheHatchetman April 29 2007 6:47 AM EDT

not that big a deal, but let me be proud for the moment :)

Flamey April 29 2007 6:56 AM EDT

grats, that's good for 1.2 mil MPR :)

A Lesser AR of 15 [Red Permanent Assurance] April 29 2007 7:37 AM EDT

Congrats Comrade!

Adminedyit [Superheros] April 29 2007 7:58 AM EDT

congrats!

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] April 29 2007 9:16 AM EDT

what a good little mentee ;)

QBRanger April 29 2007 10:04 AM EDT

Sorry to rain on the parade,

But getting into the top 10 by double tapping someone with a much higher score is nothing impressive.

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] April 29 2007 10:05 AM EDT

/me gives hatch an umbrella

Thraklight Resonance April 29 2007 11:17 AM EDT

Ranger is correct. Double tapping into the top 10 is no more impressive than maintaining a long winning streak by:

<Mikel> I am number 5, but I can be number 1 :) watch this
<Mikel> King of Pain defeated Oxcha (Battle Royale) after 7 rounds of combat
<Ranger> Mikel, STOP
<Mikel> King of Pain defeated Edyit (Battle Royale) after 5 rounds of combat
<Ranger> STOP
<Karn> lol
<Mikel> King of Pain defeated Koyaanisqatsi (Battle Royale) after 21 rounds of combat
<Mikel> hahahahaha made you look :P
<Ranger> they were on long streaks o/w it would be ok
<Mikel> I know :)

QBRanger April 29 2007 11:18 AM EDT

Like score, streaks are nothing.

But thank you for bring other things into this thread. Well done!!!

TheHatchetman April 29 2007 12:53 PM EDT

I didn't double-tap anyone purposely, there are a lot of losses to "the lega", but there are also a bunch of first shot kills. The main issue is stalemates. apparently im not doing enough damage to make my strat work

TheHatchetman April 29 2007 1:10 PM EDT

and as far as "Sorry to rain on the parade", I have a great idea if you're sorry to rain on a parade, don't.

QBJohnnywas April 29 2007 3:18 PM EDT

Nice work Hatch. Lol.

But talking of lol's, Thrak, "<Ranger> Mikel, STOP " made me laugh a little too much for a Sunday afternoon.

Might have been the afternoon's drinking that had something to do with it though..... ;)

QBRanger April 29 2007 3:40 PM EDT

Yes,

Congrats on double tapping someone to get your score up.

Good job!!!

QBRanger April 29 2007 3:43 PM EDT

And thrak,

If I made a post about how long my own win streak was, then yes, it is appropriate for you to point out that BR does not attack each other.

However, I did not do that. But it is nice of you to point out BR's long win streaks.

Thanks!!!!

SundariZelia [The Knighthood] April 29 2007 4:22 PM EDT

Congrats Hatch! :)

TheHatchetman April 29 2007 4:27 PM EDT

8 straight victories at one point, depending on randomness.

Ranger, do me a favor, and define "double-tap".

Yukk April 29 2007 4:38 PM EDT

I know my opinions are worthless, but I think Hatchetman was honestly working at this. He attacked me a few times and as he
mentioned, there were some stalemates. If he was just "cheating" by double tapping, I don't think he would have included someone low like me to fight on his way up.

QBRanger April 29 2007 5:03 PM EDT

Double tapping= Hitting someone 2 or more times in a row. The first attack weakens them and the second and subsequent attacks are versus a weakened (not fully healed opponent). The 2nd and other attacks vs the weakened opponent make it easier to win.

Even a stalemate, then a regular attack is a double tap since those minions already dead do not participate in the 2nd battle and their spells, including any AMF or DM they might cast are not cast in the subsequent battles.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 29 2007 5:16 PM EDT

Why are we still able to double tap?

Surely Jon wants this ability for some reason?

Atificially inflate score? End Win Streaks? What's it here for?

Cylo April 29 2007 5:23 PM EDT

Congrats Riddlebox. Oh and on a side note. Any and all responses not congratulating riddlebox can be looked at as trolling. Which can get you forum banned. I would think most that have done this in this thread would know that especially QB's. I also know that me adding this side note to the end of my congrats is basically the same thing, but I at least was sincere in my congrats to start it off.

QBJohnnywas April 29 2007 5:51 PM EDT

Double tapping isn't 'cheating'. Sometimes the top end of a fightlist might hold opponents on the outer reaches of what your strat can defeat. You may win one time, stalemate another and loss another. In those instances a double tap fight may indicate that your strat is just slightly undernourished, but given time will probably beat that person all the time.

Double tapping is also fun, and as such marks a completely valid way to pass the time!

Go Hatch!

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 29 2007 5:53 PM EDT

way to go riddlebox, however the only accepted method is buying your way into the top ten. please limit yourself to this manner of improvement only!

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] April 29 2007 5:57 PM EDT

Congrats, Hatch!

definitely. my main issues I am having with the consistent win are the 900k MPR advantage, and him having triple my net worth. I'm going to try something out that will bump me up to half his net worth and secure victory! :D

btw, most of my losses and stalemates were while i was shifting around a lot of gear last night and completely reworking the team in experimentation. Check again in 24 hours, and call it a double-tap.

QBRanger April 29 2007 6:28 PM EDT

" however the only accepted method is buying your way into the top ten. please limit yourself to this manner of improvement only!"

Yes, the MPR I put into Koy means absolutely nothing. In fact, I can lose all my NW (except for a decent weapon) and still beat all but perhaps 3 or 4 characters. And please tell that to PoisoN or Shadowsparkle. Not one bit of USD into their characters.

But, Riddle, if you can beat people and get to the top 10 without double tapping, that is quite an accomplishment, and I will be the first or second to post congrats when that happens.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 29 2007 7:21 PM EDT

i don't see poison or ss in someone's congratulatory thread soapboxing a pet peeve. i also thought you bought that character as well?

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] April 29 2007 7:32 PM EDT

Wasn't raining on someone else's parade just the sort of thing that got one of the more-amusing frozen treats sent to time out?

Nerevas April 29 2007 7:54 PM EDT

Well this is a self-made congratulations thread with a debatable achievement. If double tapping was considered a legitimate win there'd probably be 40-50 people that could claim to be top10. It just doesn't work that way... However, all the best luck to you TH and working your way up with your team.

TheHatchetman April 29 2007 8:23 PM EDT

/me bangs his head on the wall (but only once).

"Double-tap = Hitting someone 2 or more times in a row. The first attack weakens them and the second and subsequent attacks are versus a weakened (not fully healed opponent). The 2nd and other attacks vs the weakened opponent make it easier to win." -Ranger

I made sure I had someone else define double-tap so that nobody could say my definition varies from theirs. And who better to ask, than The Highlander himself.

Now, by definition, this would mean that every time I attack 'The Lega', I require TWO attacks to win. I don't. I win about as often on my first attack (if not moreso) than i need to hit twice.

Many of my losses and stalemates (that would make the 24 hour Battle summary appear as if it was all double-taps) are from last night, while i was shifting around a lot of gear and XP (anyone notice i went from Mage (Evasion/HP/MM/tiny AMF/Protection)) E(PL,EC,AS, holding ToE) T (with TSA, MgS, and tank gear) to T(with ToA)W(with 1.5m Evasion)E(EC)?) I went through many changes to arrive where I am, including trying a heavy AC wall, a ToA on my E-wall with tank gears back on my tank, tried out a mage wall, PL battery, even tried +100 DB on the E-wall, and on the tank. All to experiment with a few different people.

Summary:

Double-tapping: requires a minimum of two fights
I: don't.

TheHatchetman April 29 2007 8:27 PM EDT

Furthermore, this thread wasn't even made for you guys to congratulate me. Although I would've been kinda shocked if it did, I would've had no issue with this thread sinking to the bottom without a single reply. It was one of those "I want to scream it to the world from the top of someplace very high" moments. You don't look down to see who's going to hear you, you don't care if anyone hears or listens, you were proud, and had to announce it. Thank you for those who supported this thread. And to those who didn't, and flamed, and saw this as nothing more than a garbage accomplishment, I only hope that one day, you have the courage to step down from your horse and see the world anew.

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] April 29 2007 8:47 PM EDT

Congratulations Hatchet.

No matter what anyone says, even though there were double-taps, it is a legitimate way to get there.
Anything that is actually part of the game and gets you there is legitimate, the downsides are already in place, decreased rewards on second fight, decreased future rewards from lower scores so where is 'the problem'?

AdminNightStrike April 30 2007 2:08 AM EDT

"It was one of those "I want to scream it to the world from the top of someplace very high" moments."

I did those all the time with MyFirstNCB :)

noneedforthese April 30 2007 2:58 AM EDT

You won the last 15 fights against The Lega. You are universes away from double tapping, and even if you were,

meh? :)

TheHatchetman April 30 2007 3:00 AM EDT

:D

AdminNightStrike April 30 2007 12:12 PM EDT

Looks like you stalemate against me, TH :)

TheHatchetman April 30 2007 3:47 PM EDT

with a negative of over 700k ST from just one bolt, It's kinda hard for anyone without omega-sized DBs to not stale you, eh?

AdminNightStrike April 30 2007 6:15 PM EDT

Oxcha, Edyit, Tank Killer, The Lega, Conundrum, NWO, and King of Pain might disagree :) :)

TheHatchetman April 30 2007 6:43 PM EDT

"Oxcha, Edyit, Tank Killer, The Lega, Conundrum, NWO, and King of Pain might disagree :) :)"

Oxcha: magic
Edyit: EC+DB
Tank killer: magic+EC
The Lega: EC+omega DB
Conundrum: waaayyy too much Evasion (j/k, gotta keep up with ToA's pth, right?)
NWO: magic and GA

Against magic, GA, or a team that ECs you into the negatives and uses even a miniscule PL on another minion to absorb the damage away, you're screwed. But against any team relying on a tank as the damage dealer without using huge DB, you will stale. :)

AdminNightStrike April 30 2007 7:28 PM EDT

So basically, bloodlusted tanks. I do fairly well against mages, with my rear MM wall. I'd be prone to FB, but no one uses it. GA is the biggest weakness.

Maybe if I boost AMF and MgS and other AC, Oxcha won't be a problem anymore :)

Thanks for the strat help in your own congrats thread, haha
