How come the penalty for missing botchecks went up 2x? (in General)

Hi all,
I missed a botcheck x 2 and got the 60 min time out.
I opted to pay the fine but it was over 39k.
Now before the BA regeneration change my fine was about 19k.
I know the fine is based on the amount of BA you regenerate in 1 hour x the BA cost.
With the new changes to BA regeneration we are getting 1/2 as much BA per hour but the cost per BA is double. So, should it not be a wash?
IE for me I get 6 BA per 20 min or a massive 18 BA per hour.
My cost per BA is 1,094.
So, by my understanding, and I could easily be incorrect, it should be:
18 x 1,094 or 19,692 CB2 for a failed set of botchecks.
What was your BA cost prior to the change?
It should be the same proportion as it was before. The price per BA doubled, rewards per BA doubled, Botcheck failings doubled as well.

Yes, price per BA doubled, money per fight doubled. But I get 1/2 the BA as before. I can buy 1/2 the BA as before which is two times the price.
It should be a wash. No?
My BA cost before the change was about 540-555 per. I forget the exact amount. If Sut knows and can reply that would be great for an exact number. He and I had almost identical MPR when he Jon made this change.

I think Ranger is correct.
There should have been no change to fees since the 'hourly' value of BA regeneration is unchanged.

I guess the alternative to double the cost is double the downtime and we certainly don't want that :)

It does somewhat makes sense, if you consider the botcheck rate.
From a bot's point of view, it all comes down to a certain success percentage per botcheck, which should be high enough to be worth the fine/missed BA.
For example, if the bot gets a botcheck once every 30 BA, and (double) fails half of them, he would be suspended on average 1 hour each hour if he's on a 10/10 BA rate. If the suspend time were the same hour on the new system, then that same bot would be suspended on average 1 hour every 2 hours if on a 10/20 BA rate. Which means a bot becomes a more interesting option...
To fix this, either the botcheck rate would have to be doubled (I can imagine lot's of cheering for that idea) or the suspend time/fine would need to be doubled. I guess Jon picked the second option ;)

But I was under the assumption that the cost is based on your BA cost for the hour you get suspended. This has not changed.

Is the suspend time still 1 hour, or 2 hours?

ah, never noticed the length of a failed botcheck.
Anyone chime in on this?

Well, I am not going to be the one to volunteer ;)

I'm too busy at work to fight right now so I threw myself on my sword:
"Your privilege to fight was suspended for 60 minutes starting at 8:42 AM EDT. Current server time is Tue May 8 08:42:37 2007.
You may fight again when that time has elapsed, or you may continue immediately after paying a fine of $73,531. Click here to pay $73,531 and continue fighting. "

JW,
You the man,
How much BA regeneration do you get per 20 min? 7?
And please, what is your BA cost?
Thanks!

I'm on the 8 refresh and BA costs are a lovely 1533 per.
QBRanger

So 8 per 20 min=24 per hour.
Cost is 1533 per,so for 1 hour it should be: 36792 cb2.
Your cost is 2x that.

Is the actual suspend time 60 minutes, or just the message? ;)

Good question.
Perhaps Jon can chime in on this.

Right then. My hour is up, but I get this when I click fight.
"Your privilege to fight was suspended for 60 minutes starting at 8:42 AM EDT. Current server time is Tue May 8 09:43:11 2007.
You may fight again when that time has elapsed, or you may continue immediately after paying a fine of $0. Click here to pay $0 and continue fighting."

Or at least I did. Now 30 seconds later I can fight.
QBRanger

So it is true, the cost is 2x what I think it should normally be.

Looks that way yup.

It is 60 minutes, I have had unintentional bot-check failures due to outages at work (nothing worse than seeing the broken-image-link graphic right at the moment a check appears)...I have been able to play within 60 minutes.
I completely agree with Ranger on the price being doubly high. After the BA change, I also remarked how it would be nice for bot-check frequency to be lesser, but apparently that is not going to change... Just had five bot checks on the front end of an Adam heat-up...that's 5/22. Then again, I think last night I got a full MCM cycle in without a single check... Randomization is king here!
