Think INSIDE the box. If it hasn't been done, it CAN'T be done. Original is EVIL. Must repent! must conform.

Off-topic: a great place to vent :)

QBRanger May 11 2007 9:37 AM EDT

Ah novice,

Same old MO.

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] May 11 2007 9:47 AM EDT

Yet you don't realise you have that exact same condescension within every post.

Bravo sir!

QBRanger May 11 2007 9:52 AM EDT

Not the exact same,

I use different variations of the theme :)

Get it right next time :)

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] May 11 2007 10:28 AM EDT

You're absolutely right Ranger, I had made a choice to actually talk about the garbage you did and explain myself. Instead I just brought back to my favorite name for you. I had hoped people could plainly see that you took it upon yourself to bash on a persons contest until they completely gave up, essentially without cause. It was disgusting to watch. You had no place to even comment, let alone continue to make sarcastic remarks. I really do wish you'd just hush, Polly.

QBRanger May 11 2007 10:37 AM EDT

Knovice,

You certainly can think you can decipher my secret code in my post. However there is none.

My first post in Riddles thread was to say it was a good idea but with only 1 person participating (you, how strange) it was rather boring for everyone else to sit and wait.

Then Riddle got very defensive, IMO, and started the snowball.

This is an exact copy of my first post:
"So this is a contest for 1 person at a time?
If so, nice idea but rather boring for the other 50 or so people who frequent the forums. Waiting for you and knovice to go back and forth till he finishes."

This is the exact copy of my second post, before Riddle went off again
"The "useful" insight is that only 1 person can participate. Perhaps it would be better fun for everyone if others can also.
As this is a contest, one would think more then 1 person could participate."

Please tell me where the bashing is that made him stop the contest?

2 other people posted in his contest that also misread the initial post.

If you want to call me Polly, go right ahead. Just shows people how low you go to make you point-name calling. Very immature of you. But most of us already know that.

GO PATS May 11 2007 10:45 AM EDT

I agree with whatever Knovice was talking about... I didn't really read all of it, but I noticed PM getting all up-in-arms, which is always fun to watch...

But seriously...

Nah, what's the fun in being serious?
(I don't know the answer to that, but if you ask PM, I'm sure he'll explain it to you {if you are worthy}, because he certainly knows the secret.)

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] May 11 2007 10:55 AM EDT

Hmm could it have been your post directly before he shut the contest down?

"Guys,

Do you not realize that the only people who can and should post in this thread are Riddle and the ONE person who can play the game?

C'mon, he made that perfectly clear in his past posts. "

Your bile is no less disturbing than my immaturity, and no less inapropriate.

I happened to be the first person to respond, you hinting at conspiracy is again quite disgusting, I believe it's your own involvement in what you know to be underhanded subversive postings that leads you to believe that everyone participates in that kind of thing.

QBRanger May 11 2007 11:02 AM EDT

Novice,

Did you decide not to read Riddles bile filled posts towards me after my first 2 posts? Or you selectively decided to just forget about them. In his posts he made it perfectly clear that people were not to post in it. But in the world according to novice, I am the only one who can do wrong. And then you wake up from this dream your having.

C'mon, look at the whole picture.

You seem to be a Riddle apologist in this matter. No conspiracy thought. Your the one person who got in his contest and your quite the defender.

QBRanger May 11 2007 11:12 AM EDT

But novice,

If you want to post more about my underhanded doings you are delusional about, call me names, state facts not in evidence, or just type that you dislike me more than Mephistophiles, go right ahead.

For me to reply anymore would be to justify your existence, which I certainly have no desire in doing.

SNK3R May 11 2007 11:21 AM EDT

My ears are bleeding. Please, guys, just let it go.

P.S. If original is evil, does that mean all inventions are evil? :)

QBBarzooMonkey May 11 2007 11:30 AM EDT

Yeah, yeah, yeah, enough already. Ranger and I made peace over our posts in the contest thread via CM.

I also had a CM chat with Riddlebox, and he gave me the okay to turn the Amazing Maze idea into a BigBarzooContest.

Maybe we can all call a cease fire for now, and just keep an eye open for "BarzooMonkey Presents Riddlebox's Amazing Jungle Maze"...

Just a suggestion, please proceed as you see fit.

:)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 11 2007 11:50 AM EDT

kudos to riddle for the effort and ideas. that took some work bud, keep it up!

just remember that there are two types of people in the world, those that create and those that destroy. which would you rather be?

QBRanger May 11 2007 11:54 AM EDT

Well there is a 3rd type,

Those that improve.

You know the commercial:
We don't make the light, we make it better. etc...

If those that create think their creation is the end all, be all, then they are destined for failure. Everything can use improvements.

But I do agree and stated such a few times, the contest idea was a very good one. Some nice tweaks and it could be outstanding.

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] May 11 2007 12:01 PM EDT

Yes, yes. We're all clear on how outstanding anything is once it's been improved even if just by your imprimatur.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 11 2007 12:05 PM EDT

better is a judgment call. my ego allows me to see that what i think is better may not actually be better for all. if you are that third type that always thinks they have just the thing to make it all better for everyone then you will probably annoy all of those less intelligent than yourself that you are saving from their own ignorance. diplomacy would go a long way if you are really seeking to improve things.

TheHatchetman May 11 2007 12:57 PM EDT

"Very immature of you"

yes novice, namecalling?!?! you should be ashamed of yourself!!! Follow this wise man's example:

" From: QBRanger Sent: May 10 3:47 PM EDT Delivered: May 10 3:47 PM EDT
well at least I know wher eyou stand, on [SNK4R Edit: Non-PG] island as king of the [SNK4R Edit: Non-PG]"

TheHatchetman May 11 2007 1:01 PM EDT

eeep!

note to self: read where the thread has gone before making replies...

QBRanger May 11 2007 1:36 PM EDT

It is nice to see CM's fair game for posting in the forums.

However, I will not sink to that low. But for others, there was a nice exchange of CM's that included mine above.

Looking back, I am not proud of what I send in PRIVATE CM, however I can say that my CM to Riddle was not a one way street.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 11 2007 1:43 PM EDT

Oh oh ! This has reminded me of an old question I was once asked.

Can something be both new and improved?

;)

TheHatchetman May 11 2007 2:09 PM EDT

no, the CM game was not a one-way street. Posting it was probably wrong, but the double-standard just hit a nerve, and you had to be called on it. I guess it would be perfectly fair game to post my CMs to you, if you like. We can both lay all our cards on the table. You've already dealt me pocket Aces, I'll go all in with ya :)

QBRanger May 11 2007 2:12 PM EDT

What is posted in the forums and what is sent via CM are 2 different beasts.

One is for everyone to see, the other a discussion/argument between 2 people, held in private. At least most players understand the difference and respect it.

If you cannot see the difference, perhaps you should rethink things.

And if you have pocket rockets, I have J-10 suited which is the perfect hand to break A-A.

QBOddBird May 11 2007 2:21 PM EDT

Can't we all just get along?

And if we can't, why not just SHUT UP?

0=)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 11 2007 3:00 PM EDT

i see no problem with posting cm's to forums. perhaps if we all tried to act in private the same way we act in public there would be no need for this duality.

if however you act two different ways and accuse others of things you yourself are guilty of then you really cannot complain when someone calls you on your hypocrisy.

QBRanger May 11 2007 3:09 PM EDT

The problem with posting chatmails are:

1) They can be heavily edited by the person posting.

2) If there are a bunch of CM's, only a few generally get posted.

3) Without seeing all the CM's in a row, it is easy to misconstrue the CM's intent.

4) How do we even know a CM was sent in the first place. It is quite easy to say one was sent, take someone elses CM to you and substitute names/times/dates.

In order to make sure CM's are as they were sent, and in the order they were sent, an admin would need to try to manually pull the CM's out of the system. I can tell you no admin is going to waste their time doing that.

So, if you wish to believe a single CM post, without looking at the whole "CM thread" feel free. But beware of the conclusions you will draw from it as the CM's may not be real.

AdminG Beee May 11 2007 3:18 PM EDT

Guys, I've got to read this crap because that's what admins do. Other folks have the opportunity to ignore and not bother reading all your pointless playground chat. I'm bored with it !

In saying that I can save myself the bother of having to read it all by giving everyone a little forum holiday.
Take it to CM, PM, private chat room or email but keep it off the forums otherwise look out the sun lotion and passports because you're all up for a vacation...

stevebat May 11 2007 3:42 PM EDT

everyone is forum banned :0?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] May 11 2007 3:44 PM EDT

not yet steve, but poor Beee might just have to excuse us from the sandbox if we can't stop pulling hair and leaving it full of mess...

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] May 11 2007 3:56 PM EDT

"We're all going on a, summer holiday"

See what we've done? We've forced G_Beee to release the dreaded Cliff Richard, argh!

AdminNightStrike May 11 2007 6:43 PM EDT

Who is Cliff Richard?

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] May 12 2007 12:06 AM EDT

I'm surprised you don't know but be glad you don't.

Cliff Richard

TheHatchetman May 12 2007 1:11 AM EDT

bolts help...

Nerevas May 12 2007 2:36 AM EDT

In Ranger's defense, he wasn't being sarcastic and was genuinely letting us know we weren't supposed to post. Me and some others failed to read through the thread before we posted (I was confused on the contest instructions). He relayed this to us in chat the same time he posted it.

Really though.. its not a big deal.. Just restart the contest or make a new one?

Nerevas May 12 2007 2:38 AM EDT

Oh and as for character strategies, there's still tons of potential outside the box, its just not easy to reach far enough outside to grasp something =)

GO PATS May 12 2007 10:52 PM EDT

"And if you have pocket rockets, I have J-10 suited which is the perfect hand to break A-A." - Ranger...

Nope... with 10 - J suited, if you are going against Aces, then two of your possible straight cards are unavailable... 7 8 suited or 8 9 suited is much better to crack rockets...

Lochnivar May 13 2007 11:49 AM EDT

Yes there are less Aces out there, but when the third one comes up it makes it soo much easier to skin your opponent.

Remember, how much you win depends on how much your opponent is willing to risk. They'll likely risk more on triple Aces than just a pair.

The focus is on breaking them, not beating them.

TheHatchetman May 13 2007 2:02 PM EDT

For the record, we have agreed to disagree, and we were both, theoretically, going all in before the flop (Judging, then acting wayyy too quickly...)

TheHatchetman May 13 2007 2:03 PM EDT

and on a related note, i finished 2nd in a poker tourney last night! :D
