Tournaments (in Changelog)

Looks like most of the bugs have been worked out in the test tournament. The first real tournament will start at noon server time on the 2nd. Slayer333 is tournament admin.

How long will it last?

And do they usually go for a Week?

Any special rules?

Flamey: Tournies last a week. And any special rules regards to the tourney of the week are posted beforehand.

Duration of the tournaments will always be listed when you are creating the tourney character, special rules will be posted in a thread with the tourney name as the subject, along with win conditions/prize and whatnot :)

Can I request that maybe stick with the format of at least top 3 get prizes, it makes them much much better, more people play, no 1 person domination and there is still a reason to keep doing the tournament even if it seems the person in 1st will never be able to be beaten.

The amount of prizes will probably vary, but the "top three" will be standard in most tourneys.

I think if you spend your time away from your main characters growth you should atleast be able to transfer off of your tournament character.

You wont have to spend time away from your main character, as both characters will have separate sets of BA.

Any word about extra character slots? I hate to have to retire/unretire my main character just to play.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up, I wasn't sure. That leaves fun options like cash farming tournaments ^^;

I think if, as the idea seems, that tournament characters should in no way be detrimental then the loss of revenue from a character having to be retired is surely going against the grain?

Maybe I should go into business as a 'rental manager' so everyone can enjoy tourneys (and I can make a penny) since I can't afford to even equip my main char properly.

Seriously though... separate tourney BA is the best thing ever.

I would suggest that Jon maybe can spend a little of his special time to allow tourney admin to turn off certain spells / attributes from training page for each tourney. This allows for much easier tourney customization and avoid overhead effort in reporting cheats. But of course this sounds redundant, just a cool feature for admins :)

I'm not familiar with how tournaments used to work as I never actually played in any during CB1.

I see our "test tourney" chars have been retired. Will we be able to un-retire them after the 4 day period as with standard chars to xfr the cash onto our main chars or is that not allowed? Is it even possible given that the tournament has now ended?

Should we always strip our tourney chars of cash at the end of each tourney period?

What's the normal protocol with regards to xfr's between tourney and standard chars?

You used to strip the character of everything just before retiring it, now you can't send items from it to other characters so the money you earn with it should go towards the best equipment you can afford during the tournament.

I think it's all related to the fact that tournament characters have separate BA.
If it was possible to send cash/items away from tournament characters (like it was possible in CB1), then everyone would have to be play in tournaments, even if you wouldn't care about the tournaments itself. A week worth of free cash is too good to ignore.
I doubt those 'free cash' players will add much to the tournaments itself.
In CB1, where tournament players used the same BA as normal characters, this was not an issue.

Sending cash/items *to* tournament characters should not be possible, for the obvious reasons. That's why there are cooldown periods in Store and Auctions, and a whole army of admins and other players that will watch out for other abuses ;)

Gotcha, can't strip characters anymore...since is the Tournaments Changelog, I suppose I'll ask my question here:

Are we going to have an area in the 'Statistics' for current/previous Tournaments Standings, or any such thing? I don't even know where I was in the test one or anything. xD I ask because it says Statistics -> Tournament Scores, but when I click Statistics, you can't go to Tournament Scores (yes, including when a Tournament is in play). So I'm wondering if this is a future update thing. ^_^ Thanks!

I'm glad to see tournaments finally coming back, IMHO they were the best thing about CB1 (R.I.P.) because casual players like me could play competitively if only for a week.
