T2: Arena (Updated Prize) (in Contests)

A standard tournament to get us started.
This tournament will have a BA cap of 5000, and starting BA of 1000.
The tournament will be 7 days long.

The Rules:
No Decay, if you are found using decay you will be disqualified.

You may not retire your tourney character before the tourney ends.

On the last day of the tournament you may only fight other tournament characters.

Win Conditions:
Highest score wins

Prize: $5m CBD for the winner
For second place: A Tattoo of Augmentation lvl 438,200
For third place: A Steel Familiar lvl 69,134


In this tourney and in all future tourneys, if you find someone who is breaking the rules, please chatmail me. I will also be monitoring competitors randomly during the day, each day. Players who have been caught cheating will have a [D] placed in front of their character name, signifying that they have been disqualified. If they break the rules and attempt to alter the outcome of the contest by doing so (IE: Training decay and fighting other tourney chars to lower their score) then their tourney char will be reset as well.

are we allowing Tatoos ? It was a slightly unfair situaion I noticed that some people had tatoos in the last one.

I for one cannot be on all the time and camp.

Tournament characters cant camp anyway really, 10 minute cool down to buy something from the store, tats came from auctions in many cases, sure there will be a lot more available this tournament as people will see the profit and clear out any lessers they have on characters.

the only thing i would like to contribute is in relation to how first second and third be worked out. I propose that 3 areas be used in judging rank.

Score + MPR + Win to Loss Ratio = rank

eg

top score gets gets 1 point for that
top Mpr gets 1 point for that
top win to loss ratio gets 1 point for that

so if u get 1 point in each u get 3 points and a rank of 1 as that is the lowest amount of points u can get.

From my experiences each Tournament has specific/different criteria that dictates what judges first, second and third. For example, this tournament winners will be the 3 top scores at end of tournament.
Next tournament may be highest MPR or beating a specific character first etc...
Each one of course requires different techniques of playing..

what server time will the "last day" start? at midnight, or at noon?

days start and end at midnight...

Is there going to be some mechanical means of enforcing the last-day restrictions? It seems like it would be something that could easily be accidentally violated by doing the wrong down-enter combo on the keyboard. (I am ignoring the fact that it may also be easily non-accidentally violated, too...)

Supporters have favorites lists, and if that's not an option, then why not open up multiple tabs, one each per opponent?

So you cannot retire your character with an artificially inflated score on the last day to prevent other tourney characters from attacking it (thus lowering your score)

So how does BA regen work? You get 1k to start with and you have to get that number under 160 for it to start regenerating again?

That's what I expect it to be.

Not that BA regen is *that* relevant for this tournament, as it is BA capped and you only need 3 days to go through the entire BA allowance.

heres a better idea retired characters for a tourney are immediately removed from a tourney (in case someone changes there mind)

If you retire your character, you disqualify from winning, which is more or less the same, steve ;)

I noticed that I can use the "Get More BA" link from my tourney characters page. It looks as if it will let me buy BA at the same price and quantity that my main character can. Will it actually let me?

Nevermind. I'm still a maroon. There's a 5k BA limit. **smacks head**

The first popup will come up, but if you enter a BA amount and attempt to buy it an error message will come up.

Think we could buy ammo more often :|

They get retired and the items are non-transferable, so they go with the character.

Why are you too late to start this one Vic. It's a 5k BA limit...

If you start right now, the maximum BA you can spend is 1000+4320. So he could start right now, but it means he basically can't miss any ba for the next 6 days.

I'd just like a clarification on what time constitutes the "last day of the tournament". Being it started Monday at noon server time, does this mean starting Sunday at noon server time we may only fight other tournament members? After this point we should retire our characters?

"After this point" being after Monday at noon server time.

Tez, it will auto retire your character for you, so you shouldn't retire your character otherwise you will get DQ'd

I suspect tourney characters are automatically retired.

As I understand it from typing with Slayer in chat, the last moment of the tourney is noon Monday but I also would like clarification on when we can only attack other tourney characters. Noon Sunday, or Midnight Sunday morning, or Midnight Monday morning as that is the last "day".

That is disappointing. In CB1 tournaments one could transfer whatever gains in cash and items from the tournament char so long as it was before it ended. That really, although usually it didn't amount to much, made it worth competing.

I get that this isn't CB1 and it's a separate set of BA, but I really don't see wanting to spend the time required for some unlimited tournaments for zero reward. I came back after a long absence to play in them, but if this is the case I doubt I'll enter another one.

If you don't mind, What is the reason behind not allowing transfers off of the character?

But in CB1, you don't have separate BA sets. Making it able to transfer back to main char is like supporting multi. Kinda unfair for people who doesn't join the tourney

i would think...
maybe it can be so that items cant be xfered off the character but money is transfer at a 25% rate... considering everyone can make a torny char with separate BA it would attract more people to play in the torny and open more targets

Nope, it's still unfair. Not everyone has time to play and maximize all BA all the time. Especially when you have 2 sets of BA to burn, 2x the time to spend.

Whatever happened in tourney, stays in tourney, that's a man's way of playing hehehe

doesnt matter to me lol :) if you play VERY well in a torny i would say you could earn up to 1mill so 25% is like 250k a week...

The last day of the Tournament ends on Monday, at 12PM (noon) server time, so from Sunday at 12PM till Monday 12PM you may only fight other T-Chars

so in 24 hour clock time which most Euro people use thats 00:00 Sunday/Monday until 00:00 Monday/Tuesday server time or is it 00:01 Sunday until 00:01 Monday

that's 12:00 sunday until 12:00 monday (middle of the day server time)

The statement what happens in tourney stays in tourney is false.

First, Second, Third Prize go to the winner and they will be able to use the gains from the tourney. Which is fair.

So it effects everyone.

Which is alright with me, tourneys worth playing.

I've bowed out of the tourney (since I can't win and don't have the time to finish it). I retired my character just cause. I also just realized that my score was still pretty high, so come tournament end feel free to disregard "TourneyPwner 2-2".

y not make it that theres 6 hrs between tournies? many people have complained about the inhuman times that the tournies start... maybe a rotation would let people feel better

six hour rotation sounds like a good idea - this will be in place for T3->T4 transition

There should also be a list in stat or community page for Tourney hall of fame :) Only 1st place winner(s) would do I guess. Updated by Tourney admin every week.
