Confused about AC (in General)

Urgh! I've reread the page on AC about 100 times and I still don't understand how it works. So can someone give me an example of AC in battle?

Essentially AC reduces damage by 0.21% * AC, there is a small constant reduction amount for each point of AC as well but that isn't worth worrying about.

For physical damage both "base" AC and "+" AC count for the calculation.
For magic damage only "+" AC counts.

If I have 200 total AC then I will reduce physical damage by 0.21% * 200 = 42%.
So a physical attack that does 100 damage to a 0 AC character will only do 100 * (1-42%) = 58 damage to a 200 AC character.

AC 1 = 1 x 2 damage reduction + 0.21% damage reduction
AC 100 = 100 x 2 damage reduction + 0.21% x 100 damage reduction
AC 477 = 477 x 2 damage reduction + 0.21% x 477 damage reduction

in other words
AC 1 = reduces 2 damage then reduces 0.21%
AC 100 = reduces 200 damage then reduces 21%
AC 477 = reduces 954 damage then reduces 100.17% (invunerable to physical attacks) ( except vorpal blade)

Yes, but some points can be clarified upon.

A better way than *.21% is AC/477 %.
So 200 AC is actually 41.9287...% reduction.

There is also a constant of 100-200% of the AC.
This means that 200 AC would block 200-400 damage, plus the ~41.93%.

Other than that SP seems to be right =)

Each point of AC reduces damage by .21%.

Each point of the base AC works only vs physical attacks.

Each point in the (xx) protects vs physical AND magical attacks.

IE an adam [40 ] (+70) will protect only 70 points vs magical attack but 110 points vs physical attacks.

Add the total AC (displayed on your characters homepage) is your protection vs physical attacks, only the total in the (xx) is your protection vs magical attacks (you do not see this number).

There also is a base amount per point that AC protects but I do not know that base amount. This "base" is really only helpful in the beginning stages of the game, at least I find that it is since damage is in the hundred of thousands where I fight.
