T5: Combo (in Contests)

T5 will be a special win condition tournament.

Win Conditions
In order to win, players must obtain certain combinations of rankings on the stats - > characters - > standings/atrributes page. For example, highest MPR, most battles won, and richest character could be a combo. Each combo will have a prize associated with it.

General Combo hints:
Combo's will be at most, 3 conditions long.

There are 20 combo's, but only three players will win prizes. Combo's will have a "ranking" in which certain combo's will be worth more than others. This ranking will be used to determine who wins a prize.

Combo's will only involve the top of each standing (IE: having the 2nd largest decay will not do anything in a combo, but having the 1st might.)

You may not win more than one combo, if you have more than one, the one worth the most will take precedence. The other will be essentially "thrown out" in that nobody else will be able to win it.

There will be five 3-condition combos, eight 2-condition combo's, and 7 1-condition (obviously these will be worth less, but are a fallback in the event that not enough people actually score other combos) In addition, multi-condition combo's will "build" off of single condition, and 2-condition.

1) Highest win streak
2) Highest score
3) Most battles challenged
4) Highest PR
5) Highest MPR
6) Net Worth
7) Richest

2-Condition combos (in no particular order)

Most Powerful Blow + Highest EO
Highest Win streak + Highest DD
Highest Score + Highest Archery or Bloodlust
Highest PR + ST
Highest NW + Richest
Highest MPR + DX
Most Battles Challenged + HP
Strongest single minion(MPR wise) + Highest Evasion or UC

3-condition combos, 2 others are secret. In no particular order:

NW + Richest + Must have at least 1.5m NW
MPB + EO, EO must be AMF
Strongest Single Minion + Eva/UC, must be UC



Tournament Rules:

As always, these rules apply.

Decay may be trained.

There will be 160 starting BA.

There will no BA cap.

The tournament will start 6 hours after T4 ends, on July 23, 12:00 AM, and will last until July 30, 12:00 AM.

Many of the items come with smaller cash prizes as well.

Decay is displayed on the Characters > Attributes page along with all the other spells/skills.. So, if the combo's are from the Standing page, how will having the 5th highest Decay affect if you win or not?

This one sounds interesting.

So, out of all the spells/skills and standings page.. there is only 10 combinations of 3? Or only 10 combination's of 3 availible for you to win off of.. If there is only 10 we can win off of, as I beleive there is probably many more.. Shouldn't we be able to know what these combinations are?

There are 20 total combinations that are worth prizes - I will post some of the "lower" priority conditions once I've created the entire list.

Are the combos only scored at the end of the tournament? (i.e. it does no good to get the highest rating in any category before then)

I'll post the 2-condition combos on wednesday, then on thursday I'll post the 3-condition combos that build off of those, the combos that do not build will be "secret" combos (carrying the biggest prizes)

Don't know whether this is a bug. I managed to sell a base lesser tattoo from my tourney character and then rebuy it from the store. I thought it was disallowed?

As long as it's not above a certain NW, you can still sell to the store.

So is it legal to sell the tattoos from a tourney character and then buy back using our normal character?

That would only work for low level items. "Rares" can only be auctioned by the tourney char.

I don't know how much the "Rares" would encompass....

I would assume lesser tats are not considered as "rares".

I think the purpose of allowing players to sell back low items is to clear out inventories for tanks who are constantly switching to new weapons. So no, "transferring" items using stores is not allowed.

To score one of these combos you must hold both conditions (so you would have to be the richest, and have the most NW.

Is there any chance I can get back in to this tournament via a unretire?

We're only mortal, so unretiring a tournament character is not something we can do.

You will receive the option for unretiring it, but I don't know if it is allowed.

For admins, the option to unretire is grayed out if it's a tournament character.

Darn. Especially with all the good prizes this tourney, I thought I might have actually had a chance to win something.

Are the 3 condition combos coming today? Also will the conditions and prized be matched up this weekend?

3 - condition will come later today, what I'll do for the prizes is this:

If you win (for example) the 5th best combo, and this is the highest combo scored (so you would be 1st place), then you can choose any prize from that combo down (prizes will be matched up after the tourney ends), after you choose, whoever scored the next highest combo can choose from that combo down, ect.

3-condition combos, 2 others are secret. In no particular order:

I don't particularly like the combos chosen. Most of them favor the highest PR team with archery as in...

Highest win streak, Most Powerful Blow, Highest Score, Highest PR, Highest NW, richest, Highest MPR, Highest ST, Highest DX, and Highest Archery

Archery is by far the easiest way for a new team to kick butt, so an inordinate number of teams chose that route for the tourney. Then to add insult to injury it seams the combos are also based around that strat.

How about some combos that bless other strats like highest Evasion + highest DD, highest HP + highest PL, highest total DEs + highest total OEs, and some others that will go to other teams than the same top archery teams. I do note that a few are tailored to SMDD teams such as Highest DD, Highest HP, Highest Evasion, but I feel like any DD 4 minion team has no chance at anything at this point.

If an Archer team got richest, well they wouldn't be doing too great, as they're not upgrading their bow. I believe "richest" is more for the mage teams, no?

I don't agree Miteke. I don't think streak, PR, MPR, NW, and richest favour archers in this tourny. Yes archery is very good for getting 100% targets at this level but is also quite vulnerable to other T chars dragging your score down and making you continually find new targets. Decay is an even easier route to 100% challenge bonus, I'm surprised no one has taken good advantage of it yet.

Also Miteke the way to play a Tourny like this is to not worry about the combos from the strat, just use a strat that gets you 100% challenge bonus. With the small retrain penalties now the strat you use throughout the tourny doesn't have to bear any resemblance to what you end up trying to combo with.

But I still say that many of the combos favor the tanks as you can see below...

There is only one blatant mage combo.

But, yea, I realize the retrain thing kind of makes the combos based of retrainable stats kind of silly. It really comes down to who uses the fastest growing strat, then a scramble at the end to retrain into a niche that nets you the best combo. I think it would be interesting to have a tourney where retraining is not allowed.

I was assuming only these three had successful combos.

Only 3 prizes were up for grabs. Depending on the rank of the combo(3 condition being higher) took priority over the double then single.

other combos were scored (none higher than Draco's, of course) but only the highest three combos counted
