A fantasy football poll (in Off-topic)

So, I'll be hosting the second annual CB Fantasy Football league, but I need your input. What do you think the entry fee should be? Last year it was 2 mil, and it was real tough to get people to play (and Lukey still didn't even pay!). I've already had a suggestion for a 4 mil entry fee, but I think that's too much. What do you all think?

We'll be playing on CBS Sportsline this year, which features live updated scores.

Let me know if you're interested, although only the first 14 will be taken. I don't want anymore than 14, but 10 or 12 would certainly be preferred.

Keep in mind that this will be a nearly 4 month contest, so below 1 mil is totally out of the question. There doesn't really seem to be a whole lot of interest just yet. Hopefully that will change.

I think 1M is a good amount.

2M can be acceptable but more than that will likely keep people out.

Yes, it will be the same as last year (which was head-to-head) in almost all respects-- scoring may be a little different. I'll let you all know as soon as I figure all that jazz out. So it's looking like you all think only a 1 mil entry fee is good? That'll only be a 9 mil 1st place prize assuming we even get 14 people. Perhaps 1.5 mil?

Mem, why not just do a winner takes all? 1 mil per person with a 10 or 12 man league. If you really want another prize, make second place a 1 mil prize with the rest going to the winner.

Well, I've always done the first, second, and third place thing, so I don't see a reason to stop now. I don't like all the money only going to one person. Odds are much better when there are three prizes to be won.

In that case mem, 9 mil sounds like a pretty good take to me, for first place that is. Like I said, I am in if it a 1 mil entry fee, or if you will allow me to pay the money sometime in the middle of the season (I am forging my gear right now and I will start my ncb in august, at which point I will start making money again).

Also mem, what are your thoughts on a Dynasty or Keeper league? That might be fun

I've never been in one, so I'm not sure. I understand the strategy behind it, but I think it might over-complicate the whole thing. I'm not beyond taking a vote for it once we get all the participants squared away. If you all want it, I don't see a reason not to do it.

Ok, I'm thinking it's going to be a 2 mil entry fee. Who are we going to lose if that's the case? If you're still interested in playing, but can't afford it I wouldn't mind working something out on a personal basis...

2 mil isn't all that much, especially for a four month long contest. During the course of your NUB you'll make tens of millions if you stick around.

Ok, well, even if you don't have a NUB you'd easily be able to make 2 mil in a relatively short amount of time...

The only reason he isn't paid off, is because I've been doing military training for the past 4 months and just got home Wednesday night. He knows he's getting his money. And part of what I owe him, paid off the last pool I was in. Not to worry. I have $7,400 hitting my bank account on the 15th .. so ... the ball is in your court, pass or play. Makes no difference to me.
