Well congratulations are in order for Purple Cobra, unless Ranger pulls something funny. Someone should e-mail him and tell him to start playing CB again, since he just won 3M! =P

In my opinion, if the user hasnt been active for over a month or so, why send them the cash if they aren't going to benefit from it? Give ie to the closest ACTIVE person.

I will most likely NOT give an inactive player 3M.

Deifeln's rules clearly state that "If nobody gets the exact date, the person who is closest without going over will win." Purple cobra (as of now) is inactive, but he is (currently) winning the contest, so he should win the money, if selected as winner.

Nowhere does the rule say "But if you're inactive, you won't win the money."

It's deifeln's contest, so he can do whatever he want, I guess, but I won't see eye-to-eye with him anymore. Tweaking the rules (months -- almost half a year) after making the contest is in extremely poor taste, no matter what the outcome.

I don't think he was expecting anyone to be inactive, really.

Perhaps that was one of the hindsights of making such a contest almost half a year in advance? People stop playing this game constantly...somewhere in the back of his head he surely had thought something about the activity of a user when said time comes.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great contest idea.

What's the point of burying a dead person with his lottery winnings?

When someone wins the lottery (such as this CB contest), and suddenly dies after he wins the ticket, the lottery people don't say, "Oh, but we'll give the money to this other guy that is alive who got the closest numbers to the winner's ticket."

Or maybe they do?

Gve it to the actual winner as they guessed right and then we get a great cash sink or send it to TourneyPrizes if you can't contact them in a period of time.
Giving it to another active person isn't respectful in quite a few peoples eyes especially with the terms of the contest and those who complain about it being done the right way deserve even less respect in my honest opinion.

It wasn't really in the back of my mind that an inactive person might win. There is still time for noneed to win so I'm hoping for that so I don't have to feel obligated to send 3M to an inactive account. :o)

Just out of curiosity, how is noneed still a valid contestant for this contest?

Today's date is August 28th. His "contest date" was August 27th. Doesn't this mean that he's gone over the date, thus disqualifying him as a potential winner?

By The Price Is Right Rule? "Closest without going over". So as long as it happens before the 30th, noneed wins because Purple Cobra guessed too high.
