What was your first movie? (in Off-topic)

AdminG Beee August 22 2007 8:41 AM EDT

Mem said in a previous thread, "The first movie I ever saw was Return of the Jedi..." and it got me thinking about the first movie I was ever taken to as a kid.

Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (1977) was my first. What and when was yours?

QBJohnnywas August 22 2007 8:44 AM EDT

The Land That Time Forgot. Easter 1975.

The second was Star Wars, Easter 1978.

The third was Grease, Summer 1978.

there's a story there somewhere, or a bad joke....

Disney's Alice in Wonderland when I was four, first movie I remember watching.. Would've been 1992 ;o.

InebriatedArsonist August 22 2007 9:16 AM EDT

Beyond short animated offerings, Song of the South and Fantasia were probably the first "real" movies I saw in a theater. And, no, I wasn't around for their original releases.

lostling August 22 2007 9:22 AM EDT

i believe the 1st movie for me was lion king =x

QBsutekh137 August 22 2007 10:01 AM EDT

The first theater movies I remember (there were very, very few as a child):

Ma & Pa Kettle, not sure which one or how the heck I saw it in the 70s -- theater must have had an old-timey film fest or something. That would have probably been around 1975.

Joni - movie about a skier or something who gets paralyzed. Supposed to be inspirational, so I think our church or school (same thing, back then) said to go see it. Circa 1980.

E.T. - 1982. Heck, _everyone_ went to see that. We talked about it for days while waiting for the bus.

I think the lack of theater goings while young (3 movies in 11 years!) is why I never tire of movies now. I can watch 4-5 straight vids without a problem.

48Zach August 22 2007 10:02 AM EDT

Barney and Friends , haha

QBRanger August 22 2007 10:03 AM EDT

The first one I remember seeing in the theater is Star Wars.

48Zach August 22 2007 10:07 AM EDT

First movie I ever saw in theaters I beleive was Shrek.

RedWolf August 22 2007 10:57 AM EDT

If you mean in a theater, the first one I remember seeing was 101 Dalmatians.

If you just mean on video.... can't say :-P could have been any number of Disney movies, like the Lion King, Snow White, Fox and the Hound, etc.

GO PATS August 22 2007 11:41 AM EDT

Star Trek II maybe and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Double Feature at a Drive-in... I remember the heart scene very vividly.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] August 22 2007 11:46 AM EDT

the first one i really remember is walking tall, 1973.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] August 22 2007 11:54 AM EDT

My first theater movie was "Babe".

It was the story of little uninteresting pig who talked and did uninteresting things. But at that time....as soon as the fear from the insane amount of decibels faded...I had a blast!

And I even got ---a Power Rangers Mug--- How awesome is that?!

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] August 22 2007 11:54 AM EDT

QBBarzooMonkey August 22 2007 1:16 PM EDT

Escape To Witch Mountain in 1975, I was 9 years old.

I didn't see another in the theater until 1977: Star Wars.

Sacredpeanut August 22 2007 1:17 PM EDT

I wish I could say my first movie was some massive hit but unfortunately it was the rather uninspiring Blank Check (1994).

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] August 22 2007 1:43 PM EDT

Transformers: The Movie in 1990

AdminQBVerifex August 22 2007 7:28 PM EDT

How the hell am I supposed to know? My parent had, and still do have thousands of movies.

Although a few movies come to mind. I specifically remember watching "The Fantastic Adventures of Unico", "The Ghost Breakers", "The Road To Morocco", "The Lemon Drop Kid", "Labyrinth" and many other funny movies.

I remember watching Unico the most, because I remember feeling sad at one part in Unico when something bad happened to Unico, poor Unico.

Adminedyit [Superheros] August 22 2007 7:36 PM EDT

The Terminator was the first movie I saw in a drive in theater.

BooDiggens August 22 2007 8:18 PM EDT

My dad make me take a nap before taking me to Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. So hard to sleep.

The Cornerback23 August 25 2007 8:21 PM EDT

Jungle Book was the fist movie I saw and I think the first movie in theaters was Anastasia.

Mem August 25 2007 8:54 PM EDT

Interesting thread, Beee. I'd tell you mine, but you already know. ;)

Nice to see there's a fellow Return of the Jedi 1st viewer, Loch. And Escape to Witch Mountain is an awesome film, BM, although I wasn't even alive when it was in the theatres.

karlos666uk August 25 2007 9:00 PM EDT

Palom August 26 2007 12:59 AM EDT

My first movie was the first Herbie the love bug. Think it came out in 1974 or 75. Had to respond when I saw G Beee's first movie.

Mikel [Bring it] August 26 2007 10:36 AM EDT

Drive In Double-feature: Robin Hood (Disney Cartoon) and Enter the Dragon
First in Theater: Superman

Mythology August 26 2007 3:52 PM EDT

Theres only two movies I distinctly remember watching really young as a kid (before geting into the transformers phase),

Bambi and Pete's Dragon.

Both of which scarred me for life, in fact not even scarred the pain still feels fresh!

Adminedyit [Superheros] August 26 2007 3:55 PM EDT

sweet someone besides me has been to a drive in!

Bartman August 26 2007 5:08 PM EDT

I got your back bud! I've been to a drive-in.

The first movie I ever saw in a theater was Kon-Tiki in 1971. It's a documentary about a group of folks who said a boat made out of bamboo and reeds across the pacific ocean.

The first movie I ever saw at the drive-in was Planet of the Apes (1968) I was 5 years old.
