Altair Echo
Make sure you listen to the whole thing.
Woah. I'm pretty sure I have not heard anything like that before.
Although I think the first half of the song is a bit too static for my taste, the second part really is pretty groovy. Weird coupling of "instruments" for sure.
I'd be interested in seeing where this goes. Eh, even bookmarked their Myspace.

I'm actually in the works on making a music video for this song set to
The Last Question by Isaac Asimov.
Pssst! The link brings me back to the thread...

it's good although my favourite part is about two thirds through - after the first 'fireworks' moment, when it locks down into quite a sparse groove. I really liked that section and it was too short!
I'm presuming you know them. Tell them to check out garageband.com. It's a free site; you post your tunes and review other peoples work in order to gain reviews yourself. It has charts for all sorts of different kinds of music. While it's fun to watch your songs climbing the garageband charts the best part is the review process; you get to hear a lot of good music (a lot of rubbish too) and you get criticism. Some of it is not so helpful, but there are a lot of people who give very considered reviews, even if they don't like what you're doing. I've been able to improve some of my own music thanks to this process. I actually prefer the very critical reviews thanks to that.
Good stuff.

Sounds quite a lot like Tangerine Dream.
The group that did the soundtrack for Risky Business.
Especially the scene near the end on the train.
Pretty good, just kinda repetitive...

Now thats my kind of music. Kind of a mix between Saycet/Boards of Canada in the beginning to more of a 65 Days of Static/Aphex Twin sound near the end. I love it.
Ah! Aphex Twin! That was the comparison I was looking for when I posted.

I like it. It has a good mix of instruments and a techno-based rythem.
took a while for it to take off, but it has some good parts to it, i'd like it a lot better if the first like 4 minutes were not in existance...

Rocking band, but who's "Holding society at Gunpoint" on their myspace friends list? Has a big ole fat Carnage Blender banner smacked under their WoW banners, I grinned when seeing it :p
it reminds me of the music from 28 days later

You beat me to it, scy!
Man. That's another darn good song there. I love how they compose their music in the classical style-- with movements-- instead of the traditional modern way of verse, chorus, verse, chorus. Perhaps the ambient beginning did take a bit too long, but I still liked it. I think their long, drawn-back intros only work to heighten the intensity of the crescendo. Good stuff.

I agree whole-heartedly! :)

Anyone else listened to their new song?
Yep. Good stuff. A little slow to start, but hey, it's ambient music, so that's all right. Ending was, like the other song, a bit more groovy, and quite enjoyable.
Staying on my bookmark list.
