Tired of Multis? (in General)

Dark Dreky September 6 2007 12:55 PM EDT

I am... actually, let me clarify.

I am tired of all these "NUB"s that come into the game knowing exactly what strat they want, exactly how to maximize they're performance, and exactly how to sellout at the end of their bonus period. It's actually kind of sickening. Discouraging even...

Of course this could be due to GREAT mentors and the ever so wonderful Tutorial, but somehow I doubt that...

Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

(this has been a complete whine and moan post brought to you by Dark_Dreky)

8DEOTWP September 6 2007 1:01 PM EDT

that's what I did >:D, except the sellout part.
actually since there are so many of you, Dark_Drekys, there are mountains of posts and threads on "zomg this is overpowered", "zomg nerf this", it was obvious to me to go single archer ToA since everyone hated it and constantly whined, moaned, and complained about it
plus then I have a bank account and paypal for Ebay so I bought CB$ as everyone was selling it, helped me to start strong

8DEOTWP September 6 2007 1:06 PM EDT

+ anyone with free time who enjoys this game is obviously going to use all the free BA and try to play as much as they can - anyone with a brain can completely dominate at low levels with NUB and some USD. I mean that goes without even being said, but I'm just making the point that NUB is really strong, coupled with USD, and people whining about the strats that are dominant and 'overpowered' makes it SO easy to do this: "come into the game knowing exactly what strat they want, exactly how to maximize they're performance, and exactly how to sellout at the end of their bonus period"
and even without USD, it's still easy but I was just using that as an example because I made the most of my bank account

8DEOTWP September 6 2007 1:09 PM EDT

+ what the heck, after even half your NUB period you've become a knowledgable CB player, you're part of the community, and have a real strong understanding of how the game works - only outdone by the active players who have been here for years.

Talion September 6 2007 1:21 PM EDT

o_Rly, I could be mistaken, but I think Dark Dreky is insinuating that some of those NUB sellouts are not new users...

But that is just what I understood from it.

lostling September 6 2007 1:22 PM EDT

i suspect your actually only tired of the selling out part :) yep i get your idea :)

Dark Dreky September 6 2007 1:23 PM EDT

I'm too lazy to read all of your posts right now.. but I will say this...

I never said it was overpowered. The recent change Jon made was good enough for me to not complain about it being "overpowered"... just saying that <whine> there are an absurd amount of NUB's that I believe are so obviously multi's... and theres nothing that can be done about it. </whine>

Dark Dreky September 6 2007 1:23 PM EDT

that "all" was to o_Rly

I am of the opinion that the last thing we need is threads like these making it appear that the veterans of this game want to discourage new players from joining, or feel jealous of their success. As a matter of fact, we have some very helpful players in Chat and helpful clanmates helping out the newbies as well...

...but I really hate to see someone looking like they just don't like newbies. Which is EXACTLY what the title of this thread looks like. So stuff that in your pipe and smoke it.

>.<

If you think some of the newbies are multis, you should've named the thread title more appropriately to the subject.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] September 6 2007 1:48 PM EDT

"Tired of multis", please.

Some people around here really try to make them Nubs feel comfortable once they get in the game, and this does not help...

Although I get your point, and it's a valid one.

Dark Dreky September 6 2007 3:18 PM EDT

The "NUB"s I'm talking about won't care about this post... they'll play CB if they want to. I just want to give a shout out to all those damned re-NUBer's that are too pathetic to stick with on character or even an NCB. I can point to at least 10...

I am not trying to discourage NUB's.. if you don't like my title then don't read the post... if you don't the content, then don't bother posting.

Thanks.

Dark Dreky September 6 2007 3:19 PM EDT

Correction... real NUB's won't be bothered by this post. So don't worry about my little whiney post discouraging new players.

BootyGod September 6 2007 3:59 PM EDT

/me plays a tiny viola

Congratulations. I had to upgrade to deal with this post.

You don't like the new players? Be better then them. If you don't like them selling out, STOP buying their stuff. Multis or not, on both cases, this is just silly. This was a rant with no solution that would just upset alot of players for no reason. Thanks.

/me takes off his llama suit and burns it

At least my drama was never made to hurt people.

I think DD just doesn't like the fact that there are vets playing through their NUB again.

If one person doesn't buy the items from a sellout, then another will. It's quite hard to create a boycott.

For the record, I have no suspicions about any ex-vet NUBs, and I WANT NUB's to pass me. I WANT competition which is hard to sustain in these days of x/20 refresh rates...

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] September 6 2007 4:03 PM EDT

spreading FUD (fear unrest and doubt) concerning NUBs isn't new, nor has it become any more helpful...

Dark Dreky September 6 2007 4:14 PM EDT

/me sheds a tear for everyone who is offended by this post.

It's kinda crazy to think that people do not abuse the NUB (i.e. making a NUB after theirs has run out) ... I put a disclaimer on this thread that I was whining. I just wanted to throw it out there and hope to inspire some guilt in those that are guilty...

So attacks on my person have no affect (I don't care if you don't agree)

/me takes a pee on the llama suit to put it out.

Thanks! I love you all! =)

i doubt it will be the mentors help because most of those ppl dont even talk to them or even in chat
if only there were prove they were then there was no problem but if they change there ip adress then we cant prove a thing

Lumpy Koala September 6 2007 8:59 PM EDT

multi or not, that's admin's part of job to decide. We can only "suspect" :)

The only weird thing is why Rly is so "defensive" about his progress hehehe Reverse psychology anyone?

DrAcO5676 [The Knighthood III] September 6 2007 9:41 PM EDT

Well even if the vets are coming back as nub... it still only hurts them especially when they get caught. We already have a crap load of cash coming into the market and in the end it will only help us with reducing the price of cbd. Any and all multis will not and cannot rise to the top with the current way the n*b works so it is not a matter of them coming back to beat the vets... its a matter of them hurting the economy.

8DEOTWP September 8 2007 4:36 PM EDT

all I was saying was that the way CB is set up, with all the help, obvious pointers to strategy, and being able to beef up with USD might make the illusion of vets coming back as NUBs. Although I'm sure they do it quite often - they probably make a nice little stack of cash - quite possibly there are far fewer than you think. :)

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] September 8 2007 4:56 PM EDT

How many times did Duke do it?

QBRanger September 8 2007 5:11 PM EDT

at least 5.

Relic September 8 2007 5:17 PM EDT

Just remove money transfers between characters. Problem solved. There are too many http proxies that players can play through to have any hope of stopping multis completely. It is a losing battle, and it seems like the NUB's are winning thus far.

Mikel [Bring it] September 9 2007 12:20 AM EDT

You could do that Glory, but what about those of us that have already invested a ton of USD into our characters?

How would you propose that someone new be able to catch up to us if they can't buy an CB2 to boost their gear?

AdminNightStrike September 9 2007 1:04 AM EDT

"How would you propose that someone new be able to catch up to us if they can't buy an CB2 to boost their gear? "

Loans :) :)

As a note, has anyone ever actually counted the number of NUB sellouts compared to the ones that don't?

I am not saying that is what we should do, it is _a_ solution.

I would rather have all game transactions occur within the game, even usd transactions, which could tremendously cut down the sellouts.

If someone started now, it is just about impossible for the average, normal player to catch anyone at the top, including MPR. To try and catch them PR wise, would be quite silly, I tried it a few times and it would cost thousands to compete at that level with full gear.
