complaints (in General)

Ancient Anubis September 16 2007 4:21 AM EDT

no offense i don't know about others but i am getting tired of complaints by people. i'm all for people putting forward ideas and changes for the future but will people please stop complaining about the same issues over and over. If its not ranged damage its tats and if not tats US$ influence etc. Get over it people if u want to do a challenge be a mage if u want something a bit easier be a fighting minion, u want high weapons but don't have us$ get a big character and forge for a few months. And in regards to items if u wait long enough they do become availuable it took me months to get some of my gear its all about patience. But please people stop complaining about it being to hard if u can't adapt don't like a challenge or lacking in patience go play something else otherwise good luck to ya and may your patience and skill pay off.

Can't help it...

You do realize this, in itself, is a complaint... right? :P

Good point though. I'll shut myself up for a few days. At least until end of changemonth ^.^

Can I complain about the lack of carriage returns?

sooka September 16 2007 4:55 PM EDT

I dunno, I think complaints are a form of suggestion. I also feel that venting is healthy because people usually really put how they feel completely in a form of complaint. Granted, it may be drudging to read by anyone else, but why shouldn't someone be able to express themselves if they want to? A lot of forums have a section for complaints, rants, 'whiner's corners', just for this purpose. And if the same thing is being brought up over and over, why isn't there any explanation given? Everyone has their views and it's awesome to hear both sides of each topic, because most of the posters here have really keen insight to many angles. It's almost like a professional debate club here at times ;)

I've posted only 1 complaint so far, and ya it was the same thing that most complain about. While I still side with my views, what other people have said or brought up have quelled a lot of the frustration. Another thing about the same complaints being brought up, this is another reason why a complaints section to the forums would be nice, so that other people can see what others have written about similar issues before they bring them up again. It just might help >:)

Anyhow, this is too long of a post for me, back to football!

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] September 16 2007 5:49 PM EDT

and they can't search for forum threads on the topic under the current system?
I call that laziness and a lack of respect for the people who have read exactly the same debate with exactly the same viewpoints from each side an average of once a week already.

sooka September 16 2007 7:40 PM EDT

well when I first started out the forums were overwhelming. You're speaking like someone who knows the forums and how often topics are discussed. Grats 2 you. It's a much different story for people who aren't forum rats. It was just a suggestion to help the current topic of those who felt there was too much complaining going on. Focus the complaints, and you won't get as many. I couldn't even begin to tell you how long it would take me now to go back and find the one I posted a few months ago. An even better solution would be to add a search for keywords to forum posts, posts by user, etc.

We've got this already, no?

sooka September 16 2007 8:43 PM EDT

yes, yes we do.... I didn't know you could do all types of searches with that one box! *see still learning* >:O

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] September 16 2007 9:17 PM EDT

That one box is exactly the same as you find on any forum site, just looks a little different. Simply a box where you enter your search term and everything involving that term is displayed.
This means it is very easy to find threads discussing things such as Evasion and ELB.
It isn't just new players making the threads either, older players also flog the dead horse and rather than just posting links within a new thread they regurgitate the same information as before, gets very repetitive eventually.

AdminNightStrike September 17 2007 8:47 AM EDT

Zog, you've obviously not used the search function on any other forum software available. The one that is here is far from state of the art. Heck, it's not even very useful unless you know you are searching for one specific word.

New players make threads? Yeah, that's a common site, its the older players making these threads.

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] September 17 2007 12:24 PM EDT

NS, I've used lots of other forums, the Download festival one for instance which is always up-to-date on technology.
I still got 500 useless threads from the site and then none when making my terms only slightly more specific.
Flamey, some new players do but that is why I said that older players do as well, unless you're reading my words in the wrong context.

AdminNightStrike September 17 2007 8:40 PM EDT

Are you trying to say that it would be useless to be able to add search criteria? Adding date ranges, authors, etc would be invaluable to the search function, and might make it usable.
