Something not quite right with poor Hal. (in General)

Adminedyit [Superheros] September 20 2007 7:03 PM EDT

I have a Hal lvl 3,041,118. In a fight vs Vlad Tepes belonging to Draco i got this in the PBP.

Malice hit Bruenor with Doom [302482]
Hal missed Regis

I got that in every round of ranged.
What's so odd with this you may ask? I'll tell you. I don't train archery at all on my tank and supposedly Hal does.
And for those wondering the PTH on my bow is +76. Draco's EC drops both Malice and Hals DX into the negatives so I shouldn't be getting any hits based on DX.
Is Hals bow with fully trained archery (1.00) really that small on a lvl 3m+ tat or is this some kind of odd bug?

Hmmm,

Draco's EC is only 90k worth.

Your HAL and tank should still have tons of dex left to get dex based hits.

HOWEVER,

Malice is using a Mageseeker bow so it hits Bruenor who is not an evasion minion.

Hal is aiming for Regis who IS an evasion minion. I think we need to know the evasion level. Since the evasion, with its multipliers (even after your massive EC) may still overwhelm Hal's dex with its defensive dex.

Also,

Cloudscape missed Regis

In the 2nd missile rounds (I use a HoC). This with archery 1.0, a +142 MSB, +5 arrows and a 3.2M Ethereal Chains to try to knock his defensive dex down.

It seems the Hal still sucks.

must learn to read everything first..... ;8^(

Ahh it brings a tear to my to be the example in this one.... But anyways the Evasion you should be hitting is Evasion: 990,340/586,000 (110)... which brings into light the fact that EC is broken when it comes to Evasion. You should be taking away most if not all my Defensive dex due to the EC... which in turn should kill my evasion level if it worked right... but then again maybe thats something Jon did intentionally so EC can't be called all powerful... and also Edy... keep in mind I use a nice size Axbow... I should be hitting your hal if it has more Dex than your tank.

Adminedyit [Superheros] September 20 2007 7:24 PM EDT

regardless of DX (since its negative) if Hals PTH is less than 110 then he should and does miss you, I just need to learn to read a little better, anyone have any glasses for an old geezer?

Fanta [Fanta's Forge] September 20 2007 8:35 PM EDT

Well during ranged Evasion gets a bonus so no, your Hal would still need more than 110 PTH.

QBRanger September 20 2007 8:49 PM EDT

It all depends up dex vs dex.

It seems that evasions multipliers take place BEFORE EC applies.

Therefore missile round 2, Vlad's evasion is Evasion: 990,340/586,000 (110) x 9/3 which is 2,971,020 (about 175). THEN subtract your EC which its effect should be about 2M or so. Which leaves a defensive dex of about 1M. Your Hals dex should be about 1.5M (50% of its level).

Now dex 1.5M vs 1.0M is a PTH of about 75% (1.5M/1.0M * 50%). Subtract the (175) from evasion and then add Hal's PTH. Hal would need at least 100 PTH to even start to have a positive chance to get any hits.in.

So basically vs evasion in that round, your hosed.

"It can only be attributable to human error."

Brakke Bres [Ow man] September 21 2007 9:13 AM EDT

the hal is uber at low levels, not so good when facing: db's, evasion, EC, a big tank, archers, or single mages.
Ow wait that covers most of cb strategy out there.

mmm, this isn't good. Who can think of a strat that could work for a hal?

5 minion team (including hal of course)
1 minion: junction, hal, belegs gloves, hoc, aoi
2 minion: Full AS
3 minion: AMF
4 minion: EC

Could this work?

Finally, my work pays off :) :)
