Anyone else noticing no difference with archery/evasion since the chan (in General)

QBRanger September 22 2007 7:45 PM EDT

It seems with the lower multipliers I still miss who I used to miss and hit who I used to hit.

The multipliers have been lowered quite a bit whereas the old round 3 is the new round 1. I miss those I used to hit in round 3 in round 1 now, as if nothing changed.

My archery is 1.0, nothing else changed.

All the same people I attack still miss in the same rounds that they did before the change.

for {set i 1} {$i <= 5} {incr i} {
- set lvl [trainable_level_approx [expr int((0.33 + $i * 0.66) * $e + $e_db)]]
+ set lvl [trainable_level_approx [expr int((0.67 + $i * 0.33) * $e + $e_db)]]

}
$i is the range

$e is evasion from skill or uc, that's the only one that gets a bonus

$e_db is evasion from db (and rbf, now)

Awesome, I LOVE seeing revision numbers in code!

for those of us that don't speak alien, what does that mean? :P

I have no idea about programming, but I do know that who I hit in missile rounds have not changed one bit. My Ethereal chains is over 3.25 million cast.

Vs Conundrum I used to hit in rounds 3/4 for 2 hits at least per round. I would miss in rounds 1/2.

Now, The exact same thing occurs.

The new round 1 multiplier was the old round 3 multiplier so I should get 2 hits in the first missile round, however I get zero in.

Something else must be going on.

Vs Hubbell I should hit in the 3/4 rounds with the new multipliers. I still whiff in all rounds.

I am not disagreeing with your programming, it is the effect that is not working. See above.

SNK3R September 22 2007 10:50 PM EDT

Old rule: 0.33 + 1.66 (round 2) * 0.66 = 1.4256 * evasion bonuses
New rule: 0.67 + 1.33 (round 2) * 0.33 = 1.1089 * evasion bonuses

Evasion bonuses shouldn't have changed since the two characters don't have anything that was changed equipped.

Higher evasion makes Ranger's opponent less hittable, so the old rule would have Ranger hitting him less. Comparing that with the new rule, which would have a lower evasion total, should make Ranger hit his opponent more often, yet Ranger claims he's not hitting at all.

Comparing the two characters, I'm not sure what else to say but the two don't add up. It seems like the evasion is being role-reversed from the change (added, not subtracted), maybe? I'm probably missing something, though...

Miandrital September 22 2007 10:51 PM EDT

Yes it is working.

I used to win 100% against Dr. Missile Kitty. This was because he couldn't hit me in round two (I am using HoC). Now, I am starting to see some draws against him.

SNK3R September 22 2007 10:59 PM EDT

Okay, so Mian and Ranger corrected me -- should be:

Old rule: 0.33 + 2 * 0.66 = 1.65 * evasion bonuses
New rule: 0.67 + 2 * 0.33 = 1.33 * evasion bonuses

But, still, the new rule has a lower evasion total, meaning that Ranger should still be hitting more often, yet he's hitting not at all?

QBRanger September 22 2007 11:03 PM EDT

Yes, I should notice some increase in my hits, but vs Conundrum (who I have a nice constant against) I notice no difference at all.

So... very... cool...

QBRanger September 23 2007 8:20 AM EDT

Still no change at all in who I hit when.

Still miss Conundrum in rounds 1 and 2 of missile just like before the changelog.

QBRanger September 23 2007 9:38 AM EDT

Here is yet another example:

Bamf's evasion:

Evasion: 1,694,745/1,168,790 (140)

I miss him in ALL missile rounds.

My EC casts for 3.25 Million--> Microchips cast Ethereal Chains on all enemy Minions (3261161).

So let us take the 3rd missile round with its 1.66 multiplier:

1.66 x 1,695,000 = 2,813,700 which is easily covered by my Ethereal Chains.

So I should have the max dex advantage to hit, given my archer has 14k dex.

My MSB is +150 and I use +5 arrows so that should counter his evasions minus to my PTH.

So why the heck can I not hit him in any missile round at all??????

I know there is a penalty for using a MSB, but my archery is 1.0 so even with an 80% CTH/PTH, I should hit him at least once due to a dex advantage (150% with a bow).

Am I figuring out the power of Ethereal Chains incorrectly?

Then I equipped a 4.76M ToA on my archer and was only able to hit that evasion in the 3rd and 4th missile round. What’s up?

Anyone please help!!

QBRanger September 23 2007 10:16 AM EDT

Sut's evasion:
Evasion: 2,012,044/1,524,276 (150)

So in the last missile round with its 1.33 multiplier I should easily overcome his defensive dex with my EC.

But I still whiff on him every missile round.

Why?

QBRanger September 23 2007 10:24 AM EDT

Since I do read of others having a change with evasion now, perhaps it is the effect of the Ethereal Chain on evasion that is messed up?

QBRanger September 23 2007 10:45 AM EDT

Vs this evasion 1,493,790/1,524,276 (132) I hit 2 times in the last missile round. I should easily cover a defensive dex modifier of 2.0 with my 3.25M EC. So I should hit him in rounds 2/3/4 of missile instead of just the last round.

This assuming EC does nerf defensive dex from evasion at a 1:1 ratio.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] September 23 2007 11:16 AM EDT

have you tried the same with your main damage dealer? and if not why not?

QBRanger September 23 2007 11:19 AM EDT

My main damage dealer does not have archery.

He would never hit and the only difference is his dex is 320k vs 13k.

Either way, if Ethereal Chains works as I told, that amount of dex should not make any difference as my EC should completely nerf any defensive dexterity granted by evasion in at least the last 2 missile rounds vs Hubbell and in all rounds vs Conundrum.

Thereby giving me at least a dex chance to hit since my MSB + and arrow + should nullify the minus to PTH granted by their high evasion.

BluBBen September 23 2007 12:42 PM EDT

Are EC really supposed to cut down the defensive DX granted by evasion?
