Can we change the BOM a bit? (in General)

Right now the BOM is quite the unloved item.

So many restrictions, so little benefit.

A ToA tank cannot use it. You can not get much benefit from using a 2H weapon with it. Not nearly enough AC vs a MS to help. The MgS is far better in most cases if you have the option to use a power shield.

Can it be changed to give the strength benefit no matter if your using a 1H or 2H weapon? The same benefit.

I agree. As long as the penalties remain bigger when using a 2H weapon than when using a 1H weapon, granting the same ST benefit makes sense.

Just remove the power shield category. Keep the mage shield as it stands, we don't want that being able to be equipped with a tattoo! But the BOM...would it matter if it could be equipped at the same time?

Unless we are to expect more power shields what's the point to maintain it as a category?

Agreed. Put the MgS in the category of "those shields to powerful to be used with a tattoo" and move the BOM to the generic shield area.

However I do believe that the strength bonus should apply to 2H weapons as well. We all know that an extra 20% is not going to change things that drastically.

1H weapons already have a benefit in that they hit 50% more then 2H ones. So is the BOM's penalty for 2H weapons still needed?

And nerf the MgS while you are at it. *wink*

The MgS is another story. But I would not be too adverse to changing the MgS from 1% per + to 1/2% per +. But that should be for another thread.

I disagree. Imagine if ToA users could equip a BoM on top of a ToA... Better yet, try not to imagine that at all. :)

I have no input on the BoM. I'm a mage-runner. Tank matters matter not to me.

I only brought up the point about the MgS to illustrate that BOTH the BoM and the MgS (well, power shields in general!) are all tank. More choices for tanks, including one that is entirely mage-foiling.

But yes, it was entirely off topic. And if I step out from my mage umbrella, the proof appears to be in the pudding -- looks like the BoM needs some love, one way or another.

Then they would get a 20% boost to str at the cost of AC. I don't really see the problem :D

like ToA users have a huge AC on there back. Don't be foolish, the str boost alone will kill you in 1 hit.

The str on a tank that high will kill you in one hit anyways... The Bom will only help combat the EC's out there completely dispelling all str on some minions.

If the TOA restriction is removed, the BOM will be equipped on my monk faster than... something... that's really... fast.....

I think that instead of changing the BoM and eliminating the Power Shield catagory, we should add like 3-4 more shields which would benefit other types of minions, such as Enchanters and Mages. Maybe even UC minions....

A power shield that grants evasion per +... like 2 points per + ^_^

I'm not quite fussed if it stays as a power shield, as I'm not a ToA tank ;)

If we look at it now, the only real way of using it is a non-ToA tank that used a 1H weapon, that's the BoTH/VB, you really don't see many of those. A lot of non-ToA tanks use 2H weapons, mainly the MH.

Like they can't kill you in 1 hit anyways. 1 hit, one round, each round of ranged. 4 rounds of ranged, 4 minions. *cries* Where is the ELB damage reduction...

I think any sort of shield on a UC minion is quite counter-intuitive. Maybe have some sort of... Dancing Shield...

On that note, Protection is shield enough :P

Dispel eats up Protection like it's not even there...
