Solution to the Supporter Item shortage? (in General)

This is probably a really, really, really, really stupid idea, but it sounds like something that's reasonable to me, and trying to help and failing is better than not trying at all, no?

A new supporter item: "Ring of Morphing". It duplicates the effects of another supporter item. The NW of this item is used to dictate the NW, and therefore upgrades, of what it morphs into (rounded down). In terms of the VB and any other future supporter items, I guess there could be a preset % of the NW going into the + and X.

However, it can only be changed once in a while. Say, once every 4 months. It takes up the slot of whatever it is morphed into. The name would NOT be the exact same, and would have a nice little asterisk, too, to avoid confusion and the possibility of scams because of it. "Ring of Clearsight*", "Trollskin Ring*", "Noldorin Ring*", "Vorpal Ring*" etc.

It also CANNOT BE TRADED. It is also available to everybody at any time by sending USD to Jon.

I think it would be interesting, because those needing a RoE would keep the ring base, while those who want something like a VB or other high-NW item out of it must think long and hard about if they will use it in the future.

It will also not really affect the game in any way except make other supporter items more available, especially to those new to the game. Since it cannot be traded, and each person can get 1, I can't see it having TOO huge of an affect on anything, especially when you consider the limitations on it.

Just my 2 cents. Feel free to burn these pennies until the end of time. :)

PS: Why are the words 'morphs', 'morphed', and 'morphing' not in the dictionary? I mean, they are real words... o.0

Interesting idea, but I can see the cries of "reducing item prices and rarity" already. Still, a nice idea.

Perhaps involve a fee based on a percentage of the current 'market value' for whichever item you are morphing it into.

That makes the idea good.

Like a Rune of Supporter Item Rentals, to a degree?

/me whips out a flamethrower

ok, for starters that would be overpowered....as it can be anything it wants...regardless if it changes every 4 months...(coincidently the length of a ncb?)...being able to have a 100m nw MH, and then switch it over to a VB ... as opposed to having to try and find it...it just has too much flexibility

big 'ol burn on that one

Great idea, o Rly. I never thought of associating a cost to it. While I'm thinking of cost, you could make the upgrades on the item akin to a tattoo (it grows over time the more you use it. The only problem I can with that is that some items would grow out of use, while others need to grow into use, unless there's some way to pay for added/removed levels?), or to just make the upgrades the same as, say, a X on a VB; constant amount per +.

While I think about it, you could also add a small effect to it for each + on its un-morphed form. I just can't think of anything right now. :)

And, yeah, I guess you could consider it that, GW. I just think a ring is cooler. :P

Last I checked, the MH was not a supporter item. But if you want to make a 100m NW VB out of this, go right ahead. Just don't be mad when you're stuck with that 100m NW VB, because changing it to anything else would hurt your PR a lot without a lot of benefit. :P I'm sure some people wouldn't mine a 100m NW AoF inflating their PR, though. :) Yes, I chose 4 months because it is the length of an NCB. It gives the flexibility of adapting to different NCB strategies, but it's not so flexible that you can change it on a whim. I guess you could sum it up to "planning will benefit you more than not planning" in terms of both morphing and upgrading?

Rune of Supporter Item Rentals... xD

Asi I see this it's severely overpowered. The only wasy I could imagine this ever being considered implemented would be for the stats of the item to reduce to base if it was changed with no refund of time (or money in the case of weapons/armor) as well as an exorbant price just to change it.

Even then it's seriously overpowered and would make any future supporter items unneccesary and obselete, but thats just my opinion.

There's a shortage of supporter items?
