Last changemonth: happy are you? (in General)

QBJohnnywas October 2 2007 4:02 AM EDT

That was one of the more interesting changemonths I've seen in a little while.

Major change to a long standing tattoo, which has effectively added a whole new strat. Changes to 'nerf' the archer. Re-introduction of probably the most effective supporter item ever.

Ok, the RBF: calls to increase it's power for a very very long time. The latest change may have made it one of the top tattoos. Bamf, from single mage to RBF evasion-enchanter and into the top ten....that's quite something....The novelty may wear off after a while, but the amount of people doing something similar or about to do something similar suggests it may take over for a while. And it has very little counter....look out for this one. I foresee overpowered threads coming ...lol

Loads of you wanted HoCs reintroduced. You got it; so - more opportunity for people to add that extra ranged round. Although some people now have the situation that they paid the high prices for theirs and could have gotten several for the same price! Nevermind....

ToA archers may have lost some bonus PTH - if their weapons are big enough - but I'm not seeing much difference. Infact if I keep my PTH low enough I'm still going to get a huge amount of bonus PTH and more as my tattoo grows.

And the main reason to keep PTH high - evasion....well that took a knock too...Jon maintained the balance between the two (rightly in my opinion) so in reality there really hasn't been a huge amount of change there. And we still have that big ranged damage. That didn't change. If you really wanted change that should have been what you chased after not the ToA. Oh wait. Ranger has been. Should have listened...;) All you people smiling at the ToA 'nerf'...it really wasn't much of one...unless you're Mikel....

And as for the ToE...multiple minion ToE teams actually got a boost. And hardly anybody commented. The big ToE tank teams up the top end of the standings got stronger. And hardly anybody noticed.

Oh well, there's always next changemonth....

Happy October!

Yes, Happy October, and good changes all around. Anyways I love all the changes, even if I feel some were out of place... But then again who am I to say anything about what should be done, this is Jon's game after all. But yes it will be interesting to see how far the Robf goes, especially seeing as how one of the top 5 mpr is using one and the largest one minion team is also.

Johnny, you also forgot about the first time ever Free tattoo artist part of the changemonth.

Happy strategising and peace be to you and your minions.

QBJohnnywas October 2 2007 5:47 AM EDT

Ah yes free tattoo artist!! I guess I'm too reliant on my ToA; I couldn't really make best use of that one without a free retrain at the same time lol.... ;)

*cough* ELS/BoNE *cough*.

QBJohnnywas October 2 2007 6:17 AM EDT

I didn't miss that one...I'm still waiting to see if anybody takes advantage of that one.....lol....

Flamey October 2 2007 6:35 AM EDT

I doubt anyone will, they'll still think the MH/BoTH is better until we see some numbers that give a specific result. *looks at OB, who still has his kat*.

QBJohnnywas October 2 2007 6:47 AM EDT

Hmmm.....a BoTh x1500....and a BoNE x352.....following a bit of rough testing would appear to be doing very similar amounts of damage.....very interesting. Time to boost the x on the BoNE methinks......once I've paid for it......

Talion October 2 2007 9:18 AM EDT

I love the changes and fixes. Good stuff all around.

I I had to say anything, I would ask for a bit more love for the RoS. It got a little boost which is great, but I don't see many people using it anymore since free tattoo re-inking.

Flamey October 2 2007 9:24 AM EDT

for my 2.2 mil tat, opponents currently waste 750k of their DM on me, without it affecting me, so they need at least 800k DM to dispel my 50k Protection (20). About a 3 mil DM to dispel my AS, around 1.4 mil DM to dispel my GA, I'm quite happy at the moment. Mind you this is the 80% effect of the trained level of DM.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] October 2 2007 9:29 AM EDT

Am I happy?

*looks at fightlist*

Heck yeah!

But do I think the changes made this month were good changes? I do. I am glad that even though both were changed, Evasion and ToAs are somewhat balanced. I am also glad the RoBF got buffed :) Lol, it was needed. Maybe not that much, but hey, it's now a very interesting tattoo, and a viable choice, which is nice.

Seems like some useless weapons got a nice facelift. Can't verify this myself, but on paper it looks like a cool change.

ToE? I don't quite understand why it needed to benefit multi minion teams more, but anyways, it's not like the aura was bumped 140%.

Bleh, I do not like debating strat very much, so I'll leave that to others. Though I'll say these changes make sense to me :P

(HoC re-release? All my ranting against not encouraging the stupid prices has made me 5 mil richer, so...HA.)

And the RoBF rocks.

QBRanger October 2 2007 11:23 AM EDT

I think it was a very production changemonth.

The RBF not has a nice place in the realm of tattoos. It certainly needed effectiveness vs all DD spells. The constant flame damage makes it a very viable tattoo for single minons.

The TOE "boost" for multi minion teams is ok, I have not noticed any difference in the HP left on my minions after fighting though.

The ROS boost was needed, but I feel it was a bit low, but still quite helpful.

Evasion did need to be toned down a bit so non-TOA tanks could have chance to hit. Evasion, especially with the AOF was quite easy to reach incredible levels. Finding out the (xxx) was multiplied directly was a shock but it was sweet to discover it.

The TOA nerf was needed. In time it may seem to be a bit much, and an increase in the NW it gives to 1/2 NW may be needed, but that can certainly be addressed next changemonth if needed.

Re-introducing the HoC is a mixed bag. On the positive side, it is nice for newer players that never had the chance to get one. On the negative, now the value has dropped and I feel for those who bought them for 5+ million. I still believe the Black Market is the best method for reintroducing supporter items and would give the BM some value in the game.

And a huge thanks to Jon for fixing the defensive dexterity/EC part of evasion!!! Sry I was a pest about it, but something was wrong and in the end everything got figured out just fine.

Overall a 8/10 on the changemonth scale.

Yukk October 2 2007 12:33 PM EDT

I feel it was definitely a big changemonth. Lots of issues addressed, re-balanced and whatnot.
The players even got what they wanted. All of those whining about/demanding this and that, well, they got a lot of it.
Along with the free re-inking and the RoBF change we should see a lot of strategy changes. Apart from ToA which I see as basically being a strategy on its own, everyone had the chance to find out what worked best for them.
Mikel is suffering, but that happens the most to anyone at the extreme when there's a negative change for them. Then again, he's probably not actually "suffering", just beating other teams by a little less.
With all the changes we actually see, I think Jon had to do a lot more "invisible" work behind the scenes testing the balance for all these changes and so on.
Even though I personally don't see much change, I could have if I wanted to, but I see the potential for more viable options across all of CB.

Yeah well, I already pointed out that the Katana hits 15% harder than the BoTH and the Exec hits 10% harder than the MH here, but nobody seems to care much. As long as their x73 and x84 weapons leech life, who cares if they really act as though they are in the x60s and x70s? We'd much rather complain about the Vorpal Blade, 'cuz it doesn't look as pretty as it used to.

Flamey October 2 2007 1:55 PM EDT

OB, I've known that for a long while, possibly more than a year, whilst Nerevas still had his NUB we used to strategise a lot and that's what he told me.

But we're waiting on the new numbers now! :P
