CB and non-ascii characters (in Changelog)

CB has mostly operated under a "I don't care about non-ascii characters if you can get them to do something meaningful in the weird intersection of the C-locale database and the non-unicode-aware web server."

But the new templating system is more sensitive to these things so I have added stricter controls to character, item, and clan names. (User names were already this strict to keep things chat-compatible.) Existing names that were in violation of the new standard have had the problematic characters removed.

Dang my characters got their stars removed. =P

Not too bad, but now I cannot look-up my bank character? bug?

Well, There is one problem with this.. I can't send any money to my bank, because minicrackerjaxck has the same character name as me..

When I go to external transfers to send cash to my bank, I will choose the character from the drop-down list and it says the character does not exist.. So I click the character I want to send to out of the list, and.. it takes me directly back to that page, with the list of names because it says it does not exist..

It may be only a matter of changing the characters name, but just a head's up.. If the characters name does need to be changed, can it be changed to "24"??

Too bad, I had hoped on perhaps a better solution for this... especially with reference to lord of the rings related names which are a great source for the characters and items for me...

Is there any prospect of getting relief from the 150k needed to 'fix' my character name?
