Wanting Ideas (in General)

I am looking at maybe getting a melee weapon. I would really like to hear which one would be a better option. Or why people think one is better than another for me. The thinking behind this is that my weapon <mageseeker> is about killing the mages early. Once they are dead if my fight goes to the melee rounds I have 2 things working against me. 1. My weapon doesn't do that much damage to begin with and 2. I lose all that DX and have a really hard time hitting people. Thanks to all that read this and for giving your opinions.

Get a VB. I say this partially because i am selling one around the level you would likely be looking for :P, but mostly because the only reason an opponents minion would survive shots from an archer is Evasion, which can't be helped by any weapon, or heavy damage reduction...

You'll not do more damage in melee using a melee weapon. Best is to up the + on your mageseeker bow and also training more dexterity always helps.

"Best is to up the + on your mageseeker bow and also training more dexterity always helps."

Yeah... It's only a 60% penalty, so Just make everything two and a half times bigger. But when it comes to your bow, not 2.5 * nw, but 2.5* your +... After all, 262 isnt *that* far off :P

Sorry for the doublepost (and that disgusting picture to the left), but I feel i should apologize to KM, as i wasn't trying to be rude, but rather just typed my first thoughts upon reading his reply...

As a single minion what you really want is one of the VA weapons; Morg or BoTh. You could get a VB or a BoNE but then you really will need to train VA, which will leave you vulnerable to DM.

It's simply vital for you to stay alive long enough to do some decent damage in melee.

Actually, decent damage + VA = Morg. :)

If your DBs aren't big enough, and have you going blow for blow with an enemy tank, go MH. If you're evading enemies that make it to melee fairly well, go VB.
By the wy, using a ranged weapon in melee also results in you not firing every other round, so that's 3 things working against you.

I vote for VB too. Against anyone with high evasion, you will have a hard time with or without melee weap :P But if someone without extensive use of evasion that could survive your ranged attack, he/she would probably have some super AC / endurance. And that's when VB become useful :)

Spend that money on your bow. You don't need a second weapon. Once the + is good enough, you'll kill in 5 rounds anyways. So what's the point in having a melee weapon.

Kong Ming November 12 2007 7:43 AM EST

Well Hatchetman, if the bow is big enough you don't need a melee weapon because 5 rounds are good enough for a big bow to kill any team. If you use a melee weapon, you'll lose that first round of melee which could prove the difference between winning and losing. Remember, he is a single tank, the faster he finishes the battle the better.

If you do not know China history, I do not blame you but please do not insult the person in the picture!

I've changed my advice:

Looking through your recent battles most of the people who are beating you are doing so because of their evasion. So they most likely will still beat you even if you have a large melee weapon.

Invest in your bow; looking at it's stats you could put more money into it, both the damage and the PTH are pretty low for the upper levels. Once the PTH is high enough you should be able to take out a few of those longer lasting teams.

As Mikel said.

A true archer does not need a melee weapon. Up the + on your bow.

deifeln November 12 2007 1:21 PM EST

Rent a weapon until the + is large enough on your bow.

cookie dough November 12 2007 1:23 PM EST

nothing good in rentals, biggest + is 76

Soxjr November 12 2007 4:06 PM EST

after borrowing Rangers Mageseeker I see that the + is a huge help. I will be adding to the + of my bow and going that route instead of adding a melee weapon. Thanks for all the comments.
