Elven Hauberk: Time for a Change? (in General)

I think the EH needs a little loving. Given its PR weight, I think it should do a little more than what it does right now. IMHO, it is really only effective against MM mages when equipped on wall minions that stand in the back. It's completely ineffective against CoC, and I guess pretty good against FB.
Other than that, MCM is the better choice in every situation. I mean, the EH even has a DX and DD penalty! (right?) I think it needs a little lovin'. Here's some quick ideas off the top of my head.
1.) Have it give a fixed DD or skill boost (2-3%) instead of its current penalty
2.) Rescale the NW curve (not really a good idea)
3.) Change the decay rate on the DD resistance. Maybe 20% per round?
4.) Have it give a DX (and maybe skill bonus), this would probably need a rescale of the NW curve

me thinks so too... but the point against COC is that COC is supposed to work that way :) perhaps reduce the decay... to perhaps 30-40%
You want to increase DD resistance even more?
Tell me one person that has a EH on a wall to stop MM when they can go with Tsa for the regen property which does even more in the long run than an EH....
^ In other words.... EH needs some love... Dex and skill would be nice... since TSA also boosts Str... why can't Eh boost Dex?
the DD resistance should decay differently... reduce by 10% a round maybe?

reducing its decay effect to 10% /round would definitely require the implementation of something like (gotta plug my idea):
similar upgrade curve and base of prechange HoC or even a HoE,
upgradable by Blacksmith only
gives a vorpal effect of 1-1.5% per +.
Vorpal effect makes it ignore AC, Endurance, MgS/EH, and RoBF, AMF still works normally.
And put a small penalty on the DD, like no more than 5% or so... I figure It's gotta be good if it's there at all because:
A) It should be a viable option over HoC in at least SOME cases...
B) It's a mage item, so you know it would have a PR weight of 0.5 or possibly higher
3)It's the new supporter item? :P

Reducing the decay to 25% per round would make me a very happy Bob.
I think granting DX or other bonuses is going a bit overboard.
How bout give it a 0.05% HP regeneration per +? With a 50% decaying factor per round?
So it's like a TSA with lesser HP regen and no ST bonus, but lower penalties and DD resistance.

I would probably just wait for Sut to come in :)

I think the EH is just fine. It's a very good piece of armor for those who can't get their hands on a TSA.
And the amount of big characters who can't get their hands on a TSA is going to increase since the NCB has been fixed. So the amount of users who have to adapt their strategy to use the EH is also going to increase.
Unless of course a very, very, very, very terrible thing occurs (like the re-introduction of the TSA as a supporter item).

The EH is a fine item if you rely on AS to give your "mage wall" some HP.
Also, the magic penalty from the EH is only 2% vs 10% for the TSA, so for enchanters vs FB/COC the EH may be a better choice.
But, I do agree the decay should be modified from -50% per round to perhaps -25% per round.
The EH reduces Decay damage?
Did not know that!
Stupid me... The DD resistance decays...

Well for anyone that hasn't been paying attention this past week (prior to this post), I've switched back to my EH instead of my TSA. With the big increase in DD. I do better with the EH for the 4-5 rounds than with the TSA. Don't get me wrong, I love the TSA, but the EH is pretty good up here when dealing with the top DD's.
Mikel- Well you also don't use PL on that back wall which is one reason why you wouldn't need TSA. And also that str on the back wall does nothing for you so it does make more sense to use an EH over an TSA. I still feel the EH needs a boost of some sort... I don't think the Magic resistance is good enough compared to other Armor.
