why no pants in CB? and... (in General)

Unappreciated Misnomer December 17 2007 1:44 PM EST

i was thinking about that, as i do recall sometime ago this was mentioned why was this not added to the game. gimme pants for my mage. and why not more skills or perks to certain less popular abilities due to the fact that they just plain suck? feel free to contribute constructively or flame. im sure we can all wish for the uber strategy to kill all strategies but wheres the balance in that.

these are somethings i have been giving some thought to to make more strategies in the game. they are not perfect and neither is cb and as always theyre jsut ideas. ill lay them out no fancy numbers just ideas.

For pants we would need the general soft leather and HL pants, chain mail pants for AC, for now they can just add some AC and maybe some perks like evasion or DD or some resistance to Cone of Cold or DD's......anything

and why not....
Critical Strike Skill, an alternative to Archery for bow users, and useful for 1H weapons. grants obviously a critical strike chance to deal major damage. :P

Shield Bash, another Skill for melee combat with all they bells and whistles and much more of the existing penalties but the SB should have its perks to maybe stop an opposing minion from attacking for one round on top of doing damage

Cone of Cold nerf*, since this is one of the less popular DD, why not add a chill effect where the damage from CoC may in fact slow an opponents minion down or even freeze the target for a round, small chances but adds variation and gives it a kick.

Frozen Carp! (1x1) [0] its a frozen fish :P need i explain more?

Mage Wands or Staves, dam it mages need this kind of stuff, and dont make them for DD or evasion but for something more tricky like the chance to resist an attack with a tiny percentage, or add to AMF or Protection. anything.

Items having Weigth, that would determine almost the minions speed in battle. given that Dex would confer some sort of speed.

and there are more but who still wants to hear about DUAL WIELDING!!! yes i havent given up on it, would be a nice skill to have where you can wield 2(1 handed) weapons i would have to say the limit on the weapons to be able to equip would be based on the skill lvl. and who said over powered? why cant 2 weapons stack like 2 ecs as to not grant 100% of the , but you do get 2 strikes not 1.

im just bored really :P

Wow! Did you find all those ideas as you where adding more moth balls in your old closet?

Just kidding. I like some of those ideas.

Ok, I only like the one about staffs with defensive stats boosting for mages. Still, it's a fun trip down memory lane.

Aargh [Closer to the Stars] December 17 2007 2:05 PM EST

Maybe it's just me but I really don't like 'random' skills that have a certain percentage chance of activating, like Critical Strike. It makes it too much of a luck-based game. Of course there's always a certain amount of luck factored in with damage dealt, but I see no benefit in increasing the luck factor.

Stopping an opponent from attacking with either Shield Bash or CoC freeze effect would be WAY overpowered, unless it has a small chance of activating, in that case refer to the above.

Frozen Carp... do we really need a useless gimmick item? Just get a BoTH or something and name it Frozen Carp.

I personally do like the idea of a 'mage weapon', but don't think they are necessary. If you want to make mages more powerful, just give the DD spells a little boost in damage. Weapons are for tanks.

Dual Wielding would be a nightmare to balance. If you just get twice the number of attacks it would be crazy overpowered. If you get twice the number of attacks but reduce the damage per attack, it would be useless compared to one weapon because of damage reduction. Not to mention it would only make USD spenders more powerful than they are already because they are most likely the ones who can afford to keep upgrading twice the number of weapons.

Oh and DOWN WITH PANTS!

I want my guys to wear skirts!
I MEAN KILTS! LIKE MANLY MEN RAWR! >_>

=P

Brakke Bres [Ow man] December 17 2007 2:10 PM EST

CoC with freeze effect, cutting into the dex of the person that got hit. Ow yes this will work well with evasion. Please do!

Talion December 17 2007 2:19 PM EST

"CoC with freeze effect, cutting into the dex of the person that got hit. Ow yes this will work well with evasion. Please do!"

That gives me an idea....

Why not create a new Offensive Enchantment that directly reduces Evasion effect?

You train it up and it cuts into the effect granted by Evasion, DB, AoI, and the RBF. It could have an "level(effect)" comparable to UC.

Ulord[NK] December 17 2007 2:22 PM EST

You might want to check FORS (Frequently Offered Retarded Suggestions) before you post suggestions :P. I'm pretty sure dual wielding is up there already.

I don't mind pants though, but adding an armor class means a lot of rebalancing. Don't know if Jon wanna go through that work.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] December 17 2007 2:31 PM EST

We will not see Dual Wield as then there would be no use for 2 handed weapons...

Phrede December 17 2007 2:55 PM EST

what about a skill that neutralises EC - you have to put 1000 training points into it and anyones EC gets smashed, smashed, smashed, broken, hurt them hurt them.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 17 2007 3:54 PM EST

Why Dual Wielding won't work in CB.

We already have it in BL.

BL used to increase damage by 100%, which is in essence, striking twice as much, or using two weapons. It's no longer 100%, so intrdoucing a DW skill would either have to do "more" damage than BL, which would make BL redundant. Or do less, which means it would never be worth using over BL.

As their are no "on hit" effects to make use to using more thna one weapon, there's no point in equipping your minion with two 1H wepaons. It would actually nerf you, as you'd have to spend twice as much cash on upgrading those weapons.

Anyhow, BL or DW. It's one or other, and we already have BL.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] December 17 2007 7:22 PM EST

Bla Bla, we all know why there is no dual wield in this game and we have gotten every explanation for it, but he is right. Dual wield is frickin' awesome, really if you have a new type of weapon for it.
And speaking of which, why aren't there any weapons for the UC guy? Bare fisted fighting hurts if your bashing steel armour. I want some simple hand wraps or brass knuckles for UC.

Armageddon December 17 2007 7:52 PM EST

I just realized that too because of your comment.
-Helm of Durin
-Frodo's mithril chain
-Some sweet gloves from some guy
-I'm in my tidey whities with some elven boots on (don't even)
or
-In my chain mail leggings with nothing on my feet; I'm not a hobbit.
-Got a sweet elven cloak to protect me from orc spies.
-I'm definitely not smeagol with a linen thong on.

So where are my pants???

and your sword?

Isn't a lot of damage in this game fluctuating and based on different random damages? I mean I might hit 100k one me lee round and 200k the next or hitting a minion in ranged sometimes but not every time? Doesn't that kind of make all the spells/attacks in this game a little random?

iBananco [Blue Army] December 18 2007 8:54 AM EST

And MY axe!

Flamey December 18 2007 9:42 AM EST

NIN, read the last bit of the paragraph. "Of course there's always a certain amount of luck factored in with damage dealt, but I see no benefit in increasing the luck factor. "

Flamey December 18 2007 9:43 AM EST

Also, mage weapons (staves/wands) are in the FORS. If you want an item to increase your damage then you might as well go tank. The point of a mage is to not put money into its damage.

AdminShade December 18 2007 3:12 PM EST

The carp used to be an April's fool joke item.

Pants: chain mail leggings anyone?

But perhaps this could be an addition to the arsenal of a CBer :)

Unappreciated Misnomer December 21 2007 2:34 AM EST

shade: yes cml are what they sound like...pants but they are used as boots. maybe just in this fantasy world called CB ppl are free to express their nudity and throw no caution to the coming wind

[P]Mitt December 21 2007 3:25 AM EST

welll technically you could pump millions into AGs... +20s are only 174M; smaller than Freed's ELB :P

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] December 21 2007 3:31 AM EST

I'll take the new experience model for mages over a staff any day...frees up more money for my DB :)
