"very beta" means I'm aware there are fairly serious problems, such as the fight page looking even uglier than usual in the constricted width fb imposes, and no way to associate an existing cb account with your fb account.

which is the same page that face book brings up...

I still can't get in via www anymore and can't login via facebook as my main account. I'd try my FB account but I don't know what email address to use for login.

Okay, you should be able to login now at either the front page or "secondary" login form.

You had a "logout" cookie set from carnageblender.com, and it was making CB not see the "login" cookie from www.carnageblender.com. Or possibly vice versa.

CB now always set cookie domain to carnageblender.com no matter which url you use to access it.

Everything seems to work for me.

Only thing I found that was when I click on Equip, It gives me the AOL Server Error.

One suggestion that will help a bit.
Put a space at the top row of the Frame.
I can barely see Stores, Recent Battles, Businesses etc.
The FB Header slightly covers that part up.

Using IE 6 the active char/opponents thing stays on top of the auctions, clan etc flyouts.

and there's not log out button on the FB Site. Kinda made it hard to get back to here.. Just make sure you use this, other wise you could get stuck in there.

OB: in the back and forth earlier you seem to have managed to create a user account but not get your first char autocreated. i've fixed the sidebar but you'll have to manually create a character.

Rubberduck: fb users are mostly computer-literate, do we really have to worry about IE6 compatibility? :)

I'm not sure how FB logout is supposed to work honestly. There is a FB "log out" button there but how CB is supposed to know to log the guy out too, I don't know.

On a sidenote:
How is this going to effect Rentals, Auctions, player to player transfers etc if you get merged?

IE Should we have no Auctions/Rentals/gear loaned before a merge is attempted?

okay, so I used the logout link to log both accounts out. A few things that I noticed...

You can log into CB inside the facebook app with your CB account, using your email and password. If you do this, you get the sidebar-version of CB that we all know and love. (Which has the logout link)

You can not post on the forums using a FB-registered account, as you can not post with an account with an unconfirmed email. I was able to bypass this by manually changing my email through the settings page. But I can not change my password... as I do not know my password.

Once I log out of CB (inside the FB frame), the "Login with Facebook Account) link does not work. But I can still log in with this account.

So long for my Mitt's FB Account.... account. I can't get back into it; No top link bar...

I don't know if this had previously been available (it hasn't been as long as I can remember) but because of adding this app Jon, we can now get a picture of you and see what you look like.... =D

The "Go Back" link after a there is a problem updating basic info (e-mail already in use) produces a server error.

I could also only see the bottom half of the Stores, Recent Battles, Business, Auctions etc. links at the top of the screen.

VerifexMulti is my second account, you can erase it or merge it into my other account. Whoa, this is kinda freaky, it logged me out of CB and into the FB thing. Wild!

The verify the email address alert screen in forum has a link that says "Go back" to verify email address, and when you click it it throws a "server error"

when first adding the FB app, the link to go back and provide an account name shorter than 24 characters leads to an error page.
the first page after entering a long name:
"Please correct a problem
Your name is longer than the 24 characters allowed
Please go back, correct this problem, and resubmit your entry.
Thank you. "

the link being:

I found a way to log back in once you set your email account for the facebook account.

Even though you never set a password, the server, I guess, automatically creates one for you. You can have the server email you the password it created for you :)

This rocks!

How long till an awesome looking char display on the profiles?

There are quite a few pages you can set up on a Facebook application, I tried setting one up a couple months ago. The "token" system it uses is much different from CB's username/password setup, but maybe the "login" page for facebook users who are just adding the application could have a choice to "link" the account to their existing account.

The only problem is that Facebook manages pretty much the entire authentication process, and if you open the page without Facebook around it, CB has no way of knowing it. (without doing some crude "frame checking" code that logs out the user on exit)

I think that might be pretty inelegant, but I don't see any other way to maintain Facebook and regular account logins concurrently.

Other then that, I just wanna say bravo Jon, the facebook implementation is pretty slick. I added it a few minutes ago, and I'll play with my own test app to test what works my side. :)

The tabs in the store do not work correctly, all I can see is 'melee' ... even if I go into the armor store. luckily(?) in the armor store there are no weapons to buy, even thought the tab says there are. So it is only half wrong...

I am no longer "timed out" of CB. If I wander off for ... 8 hrs. ... when I come back, I don't have to log back in. Is this a new "feature"?

OK, I tried the FB app, also, my name on there is Havoc.

A few problems I noticed; if I clicked fight from anywhere other than the home page it gave me an error page. Also, I did a search and found a user for the tutorial and when I clicked back to home and tried to fight again, when I clicked fight, it took me to the search results page, I could not get back to the fight screen.

My CB-FB name is Karl Dawson. That log-out problem is very annoying.

My name is Paul_Jones, do whatever with it, merge if you will. Im gonna mess with it for a bit to see how its like. I was kinda scared at first cuz when i clicked something on my main CB screen (Non-FB) the goals showed up on the Home screen, lol.

I added a "delete cookies" link to the secondary login page. If you can't login to one of [fb account, normal cb account], hit that. (Now that the cookie domain is standardized it shouldn't be necessary more than once.)

It seemed like my FB account really didnt want my main account running at the same time. My FB account kept taking over my main's screen, (FB account Paul_Jones Goals popping up on my {cb1}smallpau1 "Home").

Sutekh here, 137 (CB) and 138 (FB). Love it! Tutorial text is scrunchy, but I assume that is part of the real estate crunch. Love the baby chat!

Bast, when the checkmark to stay logged in on this computer was default checked, it seemed to actually start working. It had never worked for me before. So yes, I stopped having to log in. Just log out and log back in, making sure the checkbox is NOT checked, and it will be back to regular timeouts...

Yes, you can only be logged in to one account (per browser) at a time.

I checked back after a few hours and noticed that the stores were fixed. I had not changed anything besides exiting FB and re-logging in.
If it makes any difference, I have not bought a better base weapon, but had previously (even before having checked the stores before) forged the initial whip and fought a few battles.

other than the store issue having fixed itself, I note that the "sidebar" on the top looks just fine when viewed in IE6 through Firefox's IEtab addon; but all the text is too expansive to be seen in Firefox itself. you can still get there by searching the page text, highlighting the link, and hitting enter...

It should be scrunchy but visible. If there's a specific section where you can see the text being cut off at the bottom, let me know.

I know the very first tutorial blurb was cut off on the bottom, but I may have had screen fonts turned up one notch (not sure if that would affect). I can't re-do that part now, but I am pretty sure those first, lengthy blurbs were getting cut off.

After some messing around with font sizes, I think I discovered that the problem is that my monitor is too big.
I have a 17'' widescreen, and with the font size in FF set to a comfortable, non-squinty size, the 'opponents' box of the "sidebar" gets pushed to a second line - but the frame is not resized, so all that is visible is one of the lines at a time. I can fix it by going down a size and reloading.

This isn't a real problem, but perhaps given the size of the frame that FB allows, does the text of "Higher Lower Reset Specify..." really need to be as large as it seems?

maulaxe: If you're going around overriding my font sizes I can't really help you. It renders fine with the defaults. :)

Next step in making CB Facebook friendly: Making an "invite friends" interface, so we can get referral cash. ;) Although linking Facebook/cb accounts is probably more of a priority right now. ;)

some of us old farts can't see with the default font sizes. you whippersnappers just wait and see what it looks like in a few years!

Pssst...chat is resizable, just like on here.

While I am around the thread...anyway to move the application around in the Facebook window? It slightly overlaps the top tool bar in mine, which is not catastrophic, but annoying.

my point about the font sizes and posting a picture is that whatever size I like to have it at can change a lot and still be fine to view CB in, but that the relative sizes of some of the fonts ended up looking pretty ridiculous.

but I think that no longer has anything to do with FB in particular, so I'll shut up about it.

My problem now seems to be that I can't log out of the CB - FB character into my regular character. Driving me crazy.

It is fun being a newbie again though! Love the tutorial thing... That is so cool!

Facebook doesn't work for me, so I'm pretty much saying just screw it for the moment.

However, I -am- concerned that I can't get rid of my sidebar when I log out of my normal CB browser unless I use the special little logout link...

The same thing is happening to me. The "Log Out" button doesn't work; all it does is re-route my right-hand frame to the home page.

I'm using the http://69.60.124.245/ site, btw.

Everything seems to work fine for me.... the only issue I have is when I try to reset or go higher or lower for my Opponents... then it just gets stuck on the loading mini screen

I can also have both IE running FB and FF running CB and both be in chat at the same time. Logging in and out with the two browsers still work fine... and they don't bork each other.

Strange issue, but the winning streak list seems diffferent on FB vs. normal. Koy was not at the top of the FB fight list even though his stats were up to date and had 100% wins. Is that a realm thing? Just never experienced that before...

Ok the CB cookies need to be redone, I tried logging in earlier using the IP address of CB and that keeps throwing me back to:

I deleted the old cookies (the ones before facebook) I could always log in with the old cookies. But with facebook I can't seem to enter the site as it is using the IP address and (im very ashamed to say) IE5

If I allow multiple cookie domains we're back to people stabbing themselves in the face mixing fb (which always uses the "real" cb domain) and the normal site. It's just not worth the "halp I can't login" nightmares.

I used to log in via http://127.0.0.1/ -- ie, an ssh tunnel that I used to access CB from places where it was denied. That still works as long asI don't log out from any machine already logged in that way. However, I can't log in anymore doing that. Any suggestions?

After I add the CB application to my FB account, the only way i can log on through FB is if i click the link in my recent news. Going to the application on my profile, it just says "carnage blender".

Also, I'm still experiencing troubles whenever I log on to my FB to log on to "blarg" again. The link provided here is the only way I can get back to blarg.

you should be able to click "Carnage Blender" under applications on the left of your login page. you're right, the app description page is not very filled-in.

that's expected; it's not really designed for multi support. :)

I almost have "link existing account to FB" working, which should make this a non-issue.
