specialized strategies ftw! (in General)

well... for a little while, at least...

I've been at 2m+ score with 3 chars that I have owned. None of them having the PR to deserve it. I have managed this by using specialized strats, 2 Evasion strats, and one EC strategy. By doing this I've managed a much higher challenge bonus than most other chars around my level (I was getting 12-16% CB as a norm with freak occurrences up to 25% CB (thanks to Fanta and G Beee) at 1.71m MPR).

I can't find many (if any) at or near my MPR that are even getting positive challenge bonuses. There are only two drawbacks. One is that by specializing in one direction, you leave yourself wide open to strats from almost all other directions (In my strats, I've been mage bait forever...), making clanning successfully nearly impossible. Another drawback is that it doesn't last long... By leaving yourself open to other strats, you are constantly getting hit by people much lower in score than your own. This causes you to take more and more score from your opponent, which causes them to take more and more from theirs, and eventually, they can't stabalize where they once could because score has been funneled to lower levels...

I'm not sure of the long-term effects of this, as I have the attention span of a gerbil on acid, and have sold my other two teams in favor of trying new things... I'm curious to know if it will level off around 1% to -1% CB, or if it will continue to drop, and how far it will over the course of how long...

This post has no real point other than to put my findings on record, and perhaps see if anyone else has any input or thoughts on the subject...

If you don't want to spend thousands on an archer or heavy tank setup there is nothing better than a specialized strat for building a team.

Well, you're only a few 100k MPR from levelling off at a minimum of 0% bonus, so you're doing pretty well if you can keep it up !

I was hitting negatives since 1.4m MPR :/

As long as characters above you are vulnerable to the specialized strat, your doing the smart thing.

Maximize your CB as long as possible. A specialized strat does that. Who cares about score? All a character cares about is xp and $ rewards.

When you hit the 'wall', then you can diversify and become less specialized. If your planning on keeping this character.

Or you can take the same approach over and over again, building characters and making money.

I don't think it works after you hit the wall.

I am almost 1.4 mil MPR and can still get over 30% CB by dropping my PR to about 1.5 mil. Then I re-equip all of my gear for a defensive strat. There are few people below me who could kill me when I was wearing all of my gear. This allows me to fight low and get a good CB % and defend high, thus not causing the score imbalance that Hatch types about. I would not say I have a "specialized" strat though.

my goal is not money, but a fun char ^_^ part of the fun is growth and competition.
My only concerns about score are that the lower attackers bring mine, and the lower i bring my opponents'. This causing them to take more from their opponents', causing them to take more on up. Eventually, the well runs dry, and we see a drop in the scores of the opponents we can kill, to where they will be gaining a negative (a sliding scale of sorts...) challenge bonus. Whereas fighting with a more generalized and stable strat, I could keep steady with a lower than prime or small negative challenge bonus.

I was wondering how they compare in the long run really. I've never had my doubts about them in the footrace ;)

Specializing is fun. Switching to different specialized strategies every month or so is even more fun! It also lets you re-populate your fight list with different people ;P.

I get between 20 and 50 percent challenge bonuses. That's evasion for you.

I've always specialized, apart from one team that was more straightforward. It lets you get to a certain high point but because you're quite often a lot smaller than the teams around you there will always be teams MUCH bigger, so you do always hit a wall that only growth will change.
