Yes, happy Australia Day. Marks the anniversary of when our country got discovered (Jan 26th, 1788). Basically it's people having a barbecue, drinking beer, festivals and fireworks. Similar to independence day(?), 4th of July?

Yay for Flamey and Australia!!! Hip Hip Hooray!
Have fun! =) Are you allowed to drink yet? I know USA is the only country with the 21 limit.... (Dont understand why we can die defending our country but not drink with buddies when we get back)... Dont wear white with that BBQ! =P
Congratulations on the discovery of a completely uninhabited land!

Happy Australia Day!
Henk, just ask any good Briton from 1788 - they're just savages, so they don't count.

Well, 5 minutes to the end of it, had a nice time. Though I didn't spend it at a festival (only a few hours) still a nice day. Fireworks were pretty good.
OB, lol at that. It's so true. "You don't speak our language? You must be a freak!"
Happy Australia Day, Flamey! :)

Aborigines anyone? They discovered Australia 4000 years ago.

20 minutes until it's all over. I didn't really find the fireworks that exciting, either. Maybe I didn't have enough to drink first?
White folks discovered Australia in 1788. They discovered the aborigines [sic] discovered it first in 1992. What they were shooting at prior to 1992 is an official mystery.

I thought that abidiginals (Zoolander, FTW) were kinda like an off-brand kangaroo?

I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong Bast) that Bast is saying that in Nineteen hundred and ninety two the High Court of Australia finally "discovered" (decided) that the Aboriginals did in fact discover Australia first. :D
umm.... except the difference between Independence day and Australia day is that the US was discovered way b4 we became independent, and Australia was discovered the same day it was discovered :O
