Defensive Ammo (in General)

I know a poll was done on this awhile back. Will there be a change, or is this one of the things that most people believe is broken that will stay broken far longer then it should?
it really matters little what most people think, jon's opinion rules all here. i have found with polls too that even the ones jon creates don't necessarily signify a change is imminent. ones that jon doesn't create are about as good as the arguments in the forums, they give us something to do, but really don't mean much at all.

I think its funny when a guy has been kickin someones head in for a month and can no longer farm them into the ground because they utilized one of the items available to everyone. Adapt and move on or perish ;)

Just for the sake of correctness, I'd like to point out that ammunition of any kind is unavailable to mages.
Don't even give me that crap about a ToA CoC mage, either. ;'D

Its the same all over "It ain't no fun when the rabbit gets the gun" ;) Use what ya got!

Well, just to be right on the money, ammunition IS available to everyone, even mages. It just doesn't make much sense to carry around a bunch of bolts that don't work with your FB.
I'm just saying.
What works does not necessarily translate to what is AVAILABLE. :D

I was actually trying to make a point pertinent to the discussion ;) If you're going to say use an item available to everyone, adapt or perish, use what you got....might as well take note that mages "dont got" that defensive ammo capability.

OB - That's like saying the American government shouldn't be able to spend USD on defensive ammo when they feel that they have to to compete with governments like the Chinese who have 1 billion kill slots.
Different strategies - different options.
Not that I'd take a bet wither way if it came down to it.

I understand what you ment and I'm sorry I made light of your comment. Sometimes my boredom overtakes me before I have a chance to think my comments through.
so in all seriousness I think this issue is just another of the give and take of different strats. No, mages cannot use upgraded ammo, BUT their "ammo" (DD) never misses so no need to up the "+" and the "X" gets pumped up with xp all the time. I know there are different feelings on upped ammo but one man's bane is another mans blessing.
and yes, i know tanks can up the + and x on their weapons AND ammo but if that's how one wants to spend their cb dollars then so be it.

Defensive Ammo = whatever ammo you use (bolts arrows shot) with the + (and or X) upgraded to higher levels. It's expensive usually but it's a strat (i think) usually used to keep just a few people from farming you heavily. and since it takes quite a bit of cash sometimes it's usually only equipped when you're not actively fighting. when you fight, you use your base ammo.
Did I explain that well enough ? (i hope i did)
Oh, I see.
It's abusing the fact that you don't loose ammo when attacked.

It's like when the U.S. puts nukes in silos so everyone else is afraid to attack them.
They go and fight in Iraq with conventional weapons but when they're out of BA, they use nukes they they (hopefully) wouldn't use to attack.
If you check the manual, they're probably named ammo:
1000 Nukes [50x1000] (+20)

Q: Does ammunition get used up when I am the defender?
A: Ammo does get used up on defense if you (a) win and (b) get a significant amount of xp from winning. So your ammo will not get used up either by someone much more powerful killing you, or by a new player that you crush easily.
three4th... in this case, if defensive ammo can stop someone from farming you, chances are you're gonna get some decent xp out of it and thus you're ammo will get spent.
and if it doesn't help you beat the farmer... well, then you just wasted a bunch of money.

Defensive ammo is a place where you can effectively buy XP. If it was used at the same rate as regular ammo I would personally not care. However, it does not and I guess that is my issue. The cost to effect ratio seems disproportionate to me.

Evasion will overcome your defensive ammo eventually, since its cost gets prohibitive all the same. It is a legitimate strategy for tanks in light of the massive abusiveness of evasion. I've recently had to remove a few opponents because of defensive ammo, but I'm sure they'll be back on soon enough :).
"I think defensive ammo is lame but the only solution I tried was worse than the problem. So this is an open research area for me. :) "
