when 500AC armor set become the norm, no one would be able to deal damage? and so all fights will stalemate at the top and thus no one grows?

But yeah with all the uber weapons being developed you need bigger and bigger ones.

Perhaps when I get bored, I'll run some calculations to figure out approximately how much net worth would be required for 500 AC... At this point, I'm fairly sure it is over 80b, and still succeptable to VB and DD. Ya need 581 AC to block out all DD, and 954 to block out VB (954 ftw!!!)...
