Axbow/Exbow question (in General)

So, I read the drain formulas both depend on the X on the bow (+unspecified % of target) and the strength of the guy holding the bow, right?

What I hope is the case is the X's add % drain and the guy's strength adds a constant drain?

Anybody figure it out? I might want an Exbow if the above is the case.

Yes it's true. The X affects a percentage drain, rouphly 1/33% per X so basically at 1000 a 33% reduction. Str helps increase drain based on a constant that is Dependant on the X as well.

I'm a huge fan of the Exbow and definitely recommend adding it to your strat. It's great for shutting down archers once your PTH reaches around +100. You can even hit them with 20 dex, as long as they don't have DBs or Evasion.

It's a great alternative to using evasion to kill tanks.

So an evasion tank with 20 ST/DX holding an exbow? Does that work?

Well... you're not going to deal much damage with just 20 STR. If you have the PTH, you could hit others with just 20 DEX.

Well, if you have at least 30-40 million NW into that Exbow and at least +100 to hit yes it will be effective if and only if the targets do not have DBs or evasion (archers tend to fall in this category), otherwise the PTH necessary would be just too insane.

It is possible but not recommended, at least as your only form of defense against tanks. I've seen very successful teams put it on heavy AC STR HP tanks, mostly as a form of damage reduction.

But personally, I strongly recommend investing it on a tank that trains both str and dex, because every time you miss, it feels like so much money down the drain...

I'm thinking of an Axbow on my main tank, and the evasion guy holds the Exbow. (So I don't need EC for my team and can use DM instead). I can transfer some xp from evasion into trained DX for him.

And am I right that defensive ST reduces damage dealt to you?

Well, Axbows are a completely different animal. By nature they target evasion tanks, that makes it very difficult often to reduce dex on the people that matter.

I do strongly STRONGLY don't recommend using both an Axbow and an Exbow. First of all it is much to expensive to keep up at high lvls (you'll be missing alot), 2nd of all it isn't a very reliable way to reduce str and dex. I think EC is a much better idea if your interested in stat drain. Also note that stat drain is useless against mages.

Another word of advice, tank strats are very expensive, I mean, even with NUB, it'll be very difficult to hold on to one. And if you do still want to do Tank strat I strongly strongly recommend having a strat that involves only one weapon. All the money should go into that weapon, since 1 strong weapon is better than 2 weak ones (because they actually hit).

Wait, so given a team with a 20k DX tank and a 2k DX + 20k evasion tank, the Axbow shoots the latter?

Or is it viable just to have the Exbow and rely on shutting down damage instead of shutting out hits?

Plus, my tank uses BL and probably BoTH (when I actually get one), so shooting is not the damage part.
