Very Scary! An unfortunate accident, but I'm glad he is alright.

Zednick should thank that first guy who ran onto the ice and applied pressure to the cut.
Possibly saved his life acting that quickly.
Warning: Blood!
Zednik falling after the contact
Wow, you can actually see the pool of blood spill out onto the ice... Geez! I'm just glad he's alright!
Yea, that must've been what kept him alive! And he was in stable condition 15 minutes after the accident, and on the way to the hospital.

So many misfortunes for Zednik: I guess about a year ago he got nailed by Kyle McLaren:

There's a worse one where a goalie (older clip) had the same thing happen. It was worse, I don't have the clip though. And.. yeah.

The older one was Clint Malarchuk, goalie for the Sabres, when a St. Louis Blue's player collided with him in the net, in 1989. I was actually at that game, it was absolutely horrifying. I still can't look at pictures or video of it.
I was watching last night's game from home. It was just as horrifying, especially because I couldn't believe that I was witnessing something like it for a second time.
The doctors at Buffalo General Hospital has a press conference today. They say Zednik is doing well, and don't think there will be long term damage, and he's already asking when he can get back to training.

With the goalie, it was the jugular vein that was cut. Incredible was that he was back in goal 2 weeks later and was practicing 4 days later.
With Zednik, it was the carotid artery. Amazing he survived. The quick action of the staff easily saved his life. Aside from death from blood loss, the possibility of him having a stroke was quite high.
