Now with Disenchant... (in General)

As a forger, i request the disenchant be raised to 70%, as this would raise the rate forgers are able to charge. If it's raised to 70%, we could charge 70%+, and if they dont like the rate, we could just sit back and forge our own stuff, then disenchant for the same rate. We just need something to compensate for no exp earned (Yes, this needs to be beaten into the ground and out the other side).

To add, still with my old idea of introducing forge only items (no BS'able use).

You saw Jon's comment that the rate is going to go down and not up, right?

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] April 4 2008 10:25 AM EDT

Well, if that's truely the case, i think most can say bye bye to forgers, as it will lower the rate people are willing to pay...

QBRanger April 4 2008 10:30 AM EDT

I do not understand why the forging rate will go down if the disenchant rate does.

If people want to up their stuff, they still have to pay either the blacksmith 100% or pay a forger 70-75%. Regardless of the disenchant rate.

I was gonna say, you forgers don't need a high disenchant rate, you need a Union! Teamster forgers FTW!

iBananco [Blue Army] April 4 2008 10:40 AM EDT

The forging rate is bounded on the lower end by the disenchant rate, since forgers have no incentive to accept any lower. The forging rate is bounded on the upper end by the blacksmith rate. The only thing that affects where on the scale the actual rate falls is how impatient people are.

You are bound to get a lot of forging jobs at least temporarily because all that money being spent disenchanting will need to be put back into different equipment.

Ulord[NK] April 4 2008 11:22 AM EDT

Forgers should have an easier time as spare big items will all but go poof. Now the newbies have no choice but to get their items forged, incrementally that is. So there will be MORE forge jobs for you. Seeing that forging still makes pittance for you forgers, leading to lower supply, you'll be able to charge more until some stabilization point... oh and say no to unions, free market ftw :) (says the consumer)

"The forging rate is bounded on the lower end by the disenchant rate, since forgers have no incentive to accept any lower."

That's only partially true.

We didn't use to have disenchant at all, and still we were not getting very low forge rates for the few forgers around, since you could still earn a bit more cash by simply fighting.

But yeah, it's a bit more likely right now to have forge rates lower-bound by the disenchant rate, as long as there still are plenty of encumbring items around.
However, as time goes on, you're much more likely to see forge rates going up compared to "right now", since everybody will want to grow as fast as possible to use better items, which they'd need forged because they can't afford the blacksmith and can't find anybody to insta with.

Oh well...
