How about multiple fightlists for supporters? (in General)

QBRanger May 1 2008 1:20 PM EDT

With the new change of autoadvancing your fightlist, what about supporters having the ability to have up to 3 different fightlists?

Something, anything to give me a choice when I fight if I want to attack someone repeatedly.

Cube May 1 2008 1:21 PM EDT

Between last time JS suggested this and now, I realized you could save your fightlist on another one of your characters. I know it's not the same, but we technically have 5 fightlists.

QBOddBird May 1 2008 1:22 PM EDT

I like this idea, personally.

My clan fight list
My normal fight list
My one person that I'm mad at today that gets 900 fights ON THEM

Hakai [Aye Phelta Thi] May 1 2008 1:23 PM EDT

I would love this option as well. I especially like the "clan only" fightlist suggestion. *begs*

QBRanger May 1 2008 1:24 PM EDT

Rubik,

You can make a fightlist on another character, but cannot easily transfer it to the one you want to fight with. Other then each time manually doing it yourself.

This autoadvance is really bugging the hell out of me.

Cube May 1 2008 1:26 PM EDT

Well for one thing it might be easier to implement, a feature such as copy this whole fightlist to this other characters'. It sort of a roundabout way of doing it, but it might be easier to implement.

Lord Bob May 1 2008 1:31 PM EDT

"With the new change of autoadvancing your fightlist, what about supporters having the ability to have up to 3 different fightlists?"

Here's a novel idea: kill the stupid auto-advance! That bloody feature has been a detriment to my fighting since the day it was added. I hate it, and I can't wait for the day Jon comes to his senses and removes it.

j'bob May 1 2008 3:02 PM EDT

Burn the auto advance~!~
It is the bane of free will and the freedom of choice.
Really.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 1 2008 3:06 PM EDT

since it is now only on the favs list, can you not simply go to the standard list, specify the target and fight them repeatedly?

QBRanger May 1 2008 3:08 PM EDT

For me, autoadvance is on the standard as well as favorites list.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 1 2008 3:11 PM EDT

the first line of this poll states otherwise.

http://www.carnageblender.com/poll/poll-results.tcl?poll_id=426

do you still have fex's script going?

QBRanger May 1 2008 3:13 PM EDT

yes, on my laptop. I will try with GM off when I get more BA.

Thanks.

j'bob May 1 2008 3:14 PM EDT

dude, that would work (for me) except the point is the fight list is a big plus to being a supporter. I would like to be able to navigate my favorite/fightlist the way I want and not have to fight someone, and then scroll around as the auto advance has just bumped me up to the highest available character. What if I have several people on my fighlist that are not in a clan, and it's one of those days where I really need clan points. In order to concentrate on my clan points i have to keep scrolling up and down. Or, let's say there's a char on my list that I beat but not all the time. And today is one of the day's that he's owning me. I have to keep remembering to skip around him or remove him from my list in order to keep from wasting ba.
In the grand scheme of things... no, it's not the end of the world, but's it's how I would like MY fightlist to work. :D

RVT May 1 2008 3:17 PM EDT

I like the idea.

But Ranger, it doesn't seem like you have a problem repeatedly attacking me.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 1 2008 3:21 PM EDT

i was making my recommendation for ranger's particular issue and no other.

QBRanger May 1 2008 3:35 PM EDT

Yes, with GM off it works fine.

However, I do wish to have a couple different fightlists depending on clan standings, how I feel that day etc..

But your post did help me with one of the problems I was having.

Thanks!

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 1 2008 3:37 PM EDT

i also support multiple fight lists, btw.

i do not support the removal of the auto advance feature and would rather it stay the way it currently is than removal.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] May 1 2008 3:42 PM EDT

if the coding for multiple fightlists is going to take more than a few minutes I think there are more pressing issues...

QBRanger May 1 2008 3:46 PM EDT

like.......

fixing evasion?
stopping defensive setups?
making it so tanks can use missile and melee weapons?
enacting a rolling bonus?
reintroduction of supporter items?

QBRanger May 1 2008 3:48 PM EDT

For some of us, this is a pressing issue.

TheHatchetman May 1 2008 3:49 PM EDT

I'm inclined to agree with nov, though I would support having multiple lists... Hopefully, the coding wouldn't take more than a few minutes*, and Jon likes the idea ^_^

* not sure why it would seeing as the fightlist coding is already there... Just copy/paste it a few times, then put in whatever little punctuations and strange symbols are needed in between to keep them seperate... Same concept as having 5 chars, no? :P

Lord Bob May 1 2008 4:45 PM EDT

"i do not support the removal of the auto advance feature and would rather it stay the way it currently is than removal."

Then download Verifex's script which gives you the -option- to use it or not. Don't force it on those who don't want it.

"For some of us, this is a pressing issue."

Agreed.

"not sure why it would seeing as the fightlist coding is already there... Just copy/paste it a few times, then put in whatever little punctuations and strange symbols are needed in between to keep them separate..."

I haven't seen the code behind CB, but I can tell you that it's a bit more complex than this. Not saying it's a bad idea or anything, I think it's a great one, but rarely is any new feature a simple copy paste.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 1 2008 4:54 PM EDT

don't force me to use a script which in turn requires greasemonkey or something. works both ways no?

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] May 1 2008 4:55 PM EDT

LB, some people who use IE want the feature (not myself, not a fan) but you can't then force them to use FF as well.
It was that way but Jon has given them what they want and going back to being forced to download extra programs isn't going to make people happy.

QBRanger May 1 2008 4:57 PM EDT

Zog,

But not everyone wanted this feature.

One cannot turn it off now, but before one could do manipulations to enable it (Veri's script).

Now, however, everyone is forced into one solution.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 1 2008 5:06 PM EDT

the majority of people voting in this poll wanted this feature:

http://www.carnageblender.com/poll/poll-results.tcl?poll_id=425

the vast majority of people in the other poll i posted would rather have it than not.

Lord Bob May 1 2008 5:35 PM EDT

"don't force me to use a script which in turn requires grease monkey or something. works both ways no?"

Not really. Before you had the option of having it or not. Want it? Install grease monkey and download the script.

Now there is no option. I CAN'T install something, switch to another browser, use a script, etc. to shut it off, period. I'm stuck with it, like it or not.

That post just proves why there needs to be a button in CB that allows this option to be disabled.

"Now there is no option. I CAN'T install something, switch to another browser, use a script, etc. to shut it off, period. I'm stuck with it, like it or not."

Like the new interface everyone complains so much about... Wait, haven't seen any complaints in a while... Guess the whole "it's new and therefore evil" phase wore off... Anyone even remember what the old one looked like? :P

QBRanger May 1 2008 5:53 PM EDT

The new interface was just that-an interface.

This is effecting fighting. Huge difference.

QBOddBird May 1 2008 10:27 PM EDT

"QBRanger, 3:48 PM EDT
For some of us, this is a pressing issue."

Agreed! And even more pressing than ANY issue brought up here is giving Hal point blank shot. ;'D

Again, I am 100% in favor of multiple fightlists - and it seems like an easy 10 minute update, considering there's already code for a fightlist in there. Then again, 'Hello World' takes me 10 minutes to code, so it depends on the programmer. ~_^

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] May 1 2008 10:31 PM EDT

I think fixing the AoL/JKF junction error is a bit more important than giving Hal point blank shot. With junction Hal is quite an effective tat. I could always start equipping my AoL when I'm not fighting....

QBOddBird May 1 2008 10:32 PM EDT

Noooope, all my issues are #1 priority, as I am currently the center of the universe

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] May 1 2008 10:33 PM EDT

Then try and fight me right now. You will see that this is a priority for you as well.

lostling May 1 2008 10:34 PM EDT

point is i still prefer the old one... just have learnt to live with the new one

QBOddBird May 1 2008 10:35 PM EDT

This is quite a priority! It appears to make me lose to you!

Sure there is, go write a script that reverses the auto-advance, and hey, look, options! Then everyone could go find some other dead horse to compla...sorry, I mean harp o... no no, I mean... down with FoD!

Auto Advance FTW! FoD FTL!
