Change request: thread expiration (in General)

AdminNightStrike May 2 2008 2:54 PM EDT

Currently, threads lock X days from when they were started. This makes things very annoying for PR threads that go on for a long time (and make tracking said PR threads a nightmare.)

Can we change this so that threads instead lock X days after the last post?

Can we have PR threads never lock?

~Can we change this so that threads instead lock X days after the last post? ~

Very reasonable suggestion.

Agreed, I think it's reasonable.

'Course, I think timestamps are reasonable too. But apparently I'm wrong about that, since they were removed, even though:

They make things more convenient.

For record-keeping: "Interest on this loan will be compounded at 5AM" and the person repaying the loan sends the money any time that day (and the loaner logs on the next day to check)

Contests in which posting within a certain amount of time of another poster is required or earns something.

Sellers trying to find which time they actually posted a FS/WTB thread, so they can bump the thread before it closes.

Contests setting a cut-off time: "The first person to post after 5PM will win" and the person running the contest logs on the next day and realizes he can't find which one wins (I think G_Beee had a few of these contests.)

They also allow the maker of a FS/WTB thread to later check what time he needs to bump his threads before it is closed to replies.

(sorry to mini-hijack your thread. I thought it was relevant though. Again, I think this is a very reasonable request.)

I also thought I had a petition to fix the stupid time stamps......

And I thought they were fixed....

QBOddBird May 5 2008 3:38 PM EDT

We only got them back on Chatmails

QBsutekh137 May 5 2008 3:40 PM EDT

I believe they were only brought back for the current day's posts. Strange, since one would think it would be MORE work to sometimes show the timestamps and sometimes not. No explanation has ever been given on why they were removed (except maybe some stylistic preferences?), and not a single player that I know of likes the lack of them.

I agree.

We could start another petition thread... :)

QBOddBird May 5 2008 4:39 PM EDT

I'd definitely sign it.

Start one up.. I did the last one, so it's your turn now :)
