Congrats, i watched the game, and was cheering for them, the best team to have never won anything. They play attractive football, and for this game, well i hate Italy, they are cheats!!!

No, new rules clearly state that the defender that was past the line of the goal did not remove himself from the game. Thus its not offside.

Alas I predict Holland will most likely collapse somewhere before the end of the tournament.

They would be my first choice to support though, and it's always good to see the Italians (who put the Scots out in the final game of qualifiers) taught a lesson in "total football".

Great match, I totally loved it. Offside... no way... tell that to the goalie who knocked his defender behind his own lines :P

Rules state that player must have intentionally gone beyond his line for him to be considered still in play..not exactly the situation in this case..but, hey, Italy usually get the breaks from the referees, so they deserve some of their own medicine..pleased for Holland - they were better team on the night and always try to play good football, not to mention great support :)

they denied Australia a goal in the last world cup or something right? I think they won the whole thing, but should have been eliminated in Top 16.

They took a lot of fake falls against Australia in the last World Cup and Australia refused to play that game and allowed the Italians to steal the win.

Yup on that offside thingy the player did not 'put himself' over the line. The semi finals should be Germany, Holland, Portugal and 1 other (havent seen Spain play yet)

For me Holland is going to win this one :)

I would like to say holland as they have a couple of people coming back from injury that should bolster the side. However Germany can never be ruled out and Portugal are looking very strong and they have Ronaldo.

They should have won the last world cup too if Nistelrooy played in the game against Portugal instead of Kuyt. Kuyt is a worker, a runner and can create space, but he is NOT of the same caliber as Nistelrooy in terms of pure striking, goal scoring ability, and skill on the ball.

The Dutch team now is unfair if they manage to stay injury free. And unfortunately, I have to agree with Gbee on this one. Root for the Dutch, but they are much more likely to end up second or third, because, for the dutch, just beating a team is not enough (Example: Barcelona vs. Man U: barce had like 70% possession but ended up not winning the tourny)..

I have my fingers crossed for the Dutch - I just can't see them going all the way. They're definitely the most exciting team I've seen in the tourney so far though.

IMO this one is wide open.
Write-off the Germans at your peril. Portugal look great and a real favourite for the cup and then there's Croatia getting ready to cause a major (but not for me) upset.

Who knows ? I wouldn't put my mortgage on any team at the moment.

Back to topic: Go Holland !

Another good performance by Holland today, although France were a bit unlucky at times and had a clear penalty denied.. Dutch are the best team seen so far.. Portugal have best performers in Deco & Ronaldo so far..Italy, one can never ignore - the worse they start, the more dangerous they tend to become..

Delighted by the France result, those subs made Van Basten look like a genius. Now that you guys have qualified how about putting out a weak team vs Romania so they win eliminating Italy and France regardless of there result :D

Yeah, let those plucky little Romanians be this year's Greece - right!!

Im all for the Romanians next match against Holland. If they win the Italians and the French are out of the game. That would be so frickin' sweet!

Italy and France are over-rated! Plus Italy cheated at the last world cup!

Italy should've lost last night due to Romania's Mutu missing a free PK (free as in, shouldn't have been a penalty), rofl. But Italy had a goal taken away as well, bad call of offsides, so it really evened out to a tie game in the end anyways, lol.

Go Orange go! I'm all for letting Romania win the next match, but I doubt that'll happen. :)

I guess I should just stop rooting for teams altogether. Seems everyone I pick loses. Portugal, Croatia, Netherlands...

I'm rooting for Italy, they would have been my first choice anyway but they are also the team I drew out of the hat for the Euro sweepstakes at work, a cool ﾣ20 if they win the tournament :)
