This is from VivaLaVida, who, as you will read, cannot post. So I'm lending a hand.
From VivaLaVida:
This is VivaLaVida. I logged in roughly midnight EST. My characters are all retired. I cannot post. As far as I know, I did nothing wrong.
There is no thread, no chatmail, and no email notification that I know of.
I'm assuming I would be hearing something if I had errored in some way.
So, to Captain Admins and/or Commander Jon.
What's up?

    No idea what happened.
I just unretired the largest character. Perhaps that makes the account usable?

I suspect its someone hacked into his account?

Hacked into his account? To retire his characters? Not to mention, I'm unaware of the option to turn on and off one's own forum-posting capabilities...

I believe Jon once said that the site assumes you have an active character.

What's that got to do with anything? Nobody's going to hack into his account to retire his characters, and he can't forum-ban himself without a name change.

Sorry, thought I'd put everything back after I was done testing last night. Fixed.

Not to be a complainer and all or to sound ungrateful for fixing umm... anyways, my second character "Gunslinger" wasn't retired before last night. And I didn't manually retire him. Any chance I could get him back free of charge? Or do I send an admin 50k tax for existing during a changemonth? Please and thank you :D

I'll use this thread, as it is a similar issue. Any ideas why my second character got deleted? I'm sure it was here yesterday, I used it as item storage, and now it's gone, along with some items. It's name was Almighty Bla.

it was automatically retired for having a score/PR ratio of less than .25, it still exists, and can be un-retired after four days. Or you can pay an admin 50k to manually un-retire it.

Ah, that explains it. Couldn't find it in the Wiki, but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. Thanks.

That's a useful info, I suggest someone update the wiki or put it in official FAQ. So that the auto retire thing doesn't appear to be a mystery to new players. I would also suggest that a notification of some sort is sent prior to any auto retire, chatmail is preferred.
