Free retrain (in Changelog)

AdminJonathan June 29 2008 6:39 AM EDT

Free retraining until cache flush Sunday morning. (Sorry, "Man up" voters. :)

QBRanger June 29 2008 8:23 AM EDT

By cache flush Sunday morning, I assume you mean this Monday morning 4 am server time?

AdminG Beee June 29 2008 8:27 AM EDT

I assumed he meant Sunday 6th July. 1 full week to play about with the new changes.

VivaPinata June 29 2008 9:14 AM EDT

"(Sorry, "Man up" voters. :)"

The second highest votes are for "Free retrain on especially large changemonths". He didn't apologize to them either. Well, this could only mean one thing. I'm not sure what that is yet, but I have a suspection that it involves Chuck Norris.

Relic June 29 2008 10:13 AM EDT

I know this has a probability of next to nothing, but how about a Blacksmith Disenchant of 100% while the free retrain is going? That way we can try different weapons as well, without paying HUGE penalties to switching.

[RX3]Cotillion June 29 2008 10:17 AM EDT

I know I will probably get shunned for this by my peers, but why not just go full out and allow free re-inking too? There has been some significant changes to tatt's as well.

I may be asking too much, but it's just a thought.

RVT June 29 2008 10:29 AM EDT

I like RX3]Entreri's idea.

Daz June 29 2008 10:36 AM EDT

Jeez... give an inch, take a mile.

[RX3]Cotillion June 29 2008 10:40 AM EDT

Just for the record, I appreciate the retraining and would not care either way if reinking is made free or not. So, thanks Jon. It was just a suggestion.

AdminJonathan June 29 2008 10:50 AM EDT

Beee is correct

winner winner June 29 2008 2:02 PM EDT

Sunday Morning or sunday night?

AdminG Beee June 29 2008 2:10 PM EDT

SK - cache flush...

QBOddBird June 29 2008 2:15 PM EDT

I may have voted 'man up,' but it is certainly more reasonable that the free retrain showed up with the introduction of both a new skill -and- a new DD...no complaints. :)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] June 29 2008 2:22 PM EDT

Blacksmith disenchanting would be ridiculous. Everyone would just depower their extra items laying around and put the money all into their main set of weapons/armor.

Lochnivar June 29 2008 2:43 PM EDT

D'oh.... guess who did a big retrain yesterday....

That just hurts... ah well I only lost 18k MPR

~sigh~

Relic June 29 2008 5:06 PM EDT

"Blacksmith disenchanting would be ridiculous. Everyone would just depower their extra items laying around and put the money all into their main set of weapons/armor."

Nothing wrong with that, it would shake things up a bit, AND the same thing is being done with EXP currently.

Yukk June 29 2008 5:29 PM EDT

Snake, there's encumbrance to deal with anyway. You can only stick so much stuff on one minion.
I'd vote for a free disenchant too. Even if Jon could make it so that a player could only move the enchantment values from one weapon to another for free and regular disenchanting was still at 50%.

TheHatchetman June 29 2008 6:05 PM EDT

BS credits? :P

Not a fan of the "cheap way out" options, seeing as they seem to only contribute to keeping ranks exactly as they are... But I'm less opposed to this than most other things, due to the fact that we're already able to sell/insta any item we put money into... Though, if this bizarre idea is actually even taken into consideration, non-forgables would need to be excluded or altered... ie, gold credits and silver credits... gold credits work on anything and are only obtained via disenchanting non-forgables, while silver credits only work on forgable items only and are obtained via disenchanting forgable items...

Tyriel [123456789] June 29 2008 8:40 PM EDT

This is the worst 'change' this changemonth.

AdminNightStrike June 29 2008 8:49 PM EDT

"This is the worst 'change' this changemonth. "

If you classify *this* as the worst change this month, then I would wager that this is by a landslide the *best* changemonth ever!

Tyriel [123456789] June 29 2008 8:57 PM EDT

Probably, yes.

But that doesn't change the fact that I don't like a week long free retrain.

QBRanger June 29 2008 9:02 PM EDT

Tyriel.

I agree that 1week is a long time.

But there is a logic behind 1week instead of 1 day.

This is one of the most important changes Jon can do.

Letting us remake our character. How fair would it be if someone was away for a weekend then comes back and missed this opportunity. To perhaps get rid of the boredom and do things over.

The week time, I suspect, is enough time to let almost everyone who often plays CB participate.

TheHatchetman June 29 2008 9:48 PM EDT

"If you classify *this* as the worst change this month, then I would wager that this is by a landslide the *best* changemonth ever! "

ummm... even if you don't this is the best changemonth ever...

"The week time, I suspect, is enough time to let almost everyone who often plays CB participate. "

Another reason is so that Jon can see how the new items and abilites we all have will pan out... Assuming you can throw this many handfulls of stuff onto 50 different sides of the scale and come out properly balanced would be just plain foolish. Only thing is, everything seems right. So where do we find the flaws that likely exist (unless there is another CB somewhere that we don't know about with a bunch of other users that he doesn't like as much there to test everything out and handle all the crap before he does it here...)

Much as I hate free retrains, they really are the easiest way to get most/all of the kinks ironed out as quickly and painlessly as possible...

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] June 30 2008 1:27 PM EDT

it would probably be a wonderful idea if someone would sticky this as a news item so that people who might have been away this weekend will see it for sure.

otherwise, look upon this as public service bumpage!

QBOddBird June 30 2008 3:02 PM EDT

FYI

FREE RETRAIN IS THE WORST

I REPEAT WORST

THING EVER

QBsutekh137 June 30 2008 3:06 PM EDT

OB, so you say free retrain is OK under the circumstances of the large changes (further up in the thread), then say free retraining is the worst, later in the same thread...

Huh?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 30 2008 3:08 PM EDT

being fickle is now an equal opportunity prerogative
