Name change Aisle 2 (in General)

Can we get the name of the new spell changed from Shocking Grasp to Lightning Bolt?

It is confusing and I have had some rather new players think they can dodge this spell. As it does say Grasp in the title.

If it was renamed to Lightning Bolt people would start saying you should be able to use it in ranged.

You can't use Cone of Cold in range but it sounds like you should doesn't it? Just because it's a Lightning Bolt doesn't imply that it has a long range and I agree with Ranger in that Shocking Grasp will sound like it can be dodge by training evasion or DX by NUBs who don't know any better. Besides with a lightning bolt spell then you can have a lightning familiar which fits nicely with ice, fire, and steel(earth) familiars.

Um, CoC doesn't have the word "ice" in it. And MM doesn't have the word "steel" in it. So a SG familiar could be called a lightning familiar regardless of what the spell name is.

I like the name "Charged Bolt." That way, it sounds pretty undodgable and non-ranged. >_>

Well, if you want 'un-dodgable' and fitting with the spell, there's always "Heat armour".

But Daz, It does damage to minions without armour! Imagine that. Cooking someone hurts them. Huh.

Well if it did require DX to hit then that would stop all those "overpowered" people from complaining since you would need to split exp to use it properly.

ummm... this is actually a bad example seeing as both of them are at minimum power... :P the SG is hitting an enchanter with 0 base AC, but the UC is hitting a wall... and they said minion ordering would be difficult... HAH! :P

And when are we going to get a Psy-type and Fighting-Type DD spell?

I also don't think "Cone of Cold" sounds ranged (though didn't it used to fire in ranged, back in CB1?). It seems like I'm coming up behind you and stabbing you with a magical ice cream cone.

How about an aura-ish attack? Kind of like the RoBF 'flames surrounding xx'. Maybe like Static Field?

If SG is ever required to use dex, it should have the opportunity of a multi-hit.

Is it a rocket cone? That would give it an extended range. I guess everyone who uses CoC + HoC has a Rocket Cone. I've been craving one of those for a while now.

Yeah. I agree. SG should be able to multi-hit if it requires DX. Honestly, if you make it that, SG would be super more powerful than it is. Get the mage to equip a ToA, then it has the ability to use a ranged weapon, then own you with SG multiple times.

It sounds like you could dodge DB And MM too. I mean c'mon, "Missile" sounds like a projectile to me, not some magic spell.

It's only called Magic Missile because the spell's named Magic Missile in D&D.
