Propose: Vacation Mode and slight penalty. (in General)

Wild gun has vacation mode which i think a pretty cool idea. Can CB has this option also? how to limit and penalize this mode vs. regular gaming is up to admin to decide. Discuss?

PearsonTritonRaveshaw July 18 2008 9:40 PM EDT

More information would help. But I have a question: Why would someone go on vacation mode if they are to be penalized?

Little Anthony July 18 2008 9:45 PM EDT

able to automatic purchase BA but miss out on regular BA?

BadFish July 18 2008 9:46 PM EDT

I understand what you're going for, but that makes no sense.

ScY July 18 2008 9:48 PM EDT

So many variations of "vacation mode" have been suggested in the past... basically your answer is "No, this will not be implemented"

QBRanger July 18 2008 9:50 PM EDT

The one feature I would love to see is an auto-purchase BA function.

You turn it on and everyday just before midnight, if you have not bought all your BA, it autobuys it for you as long as you have the money.

Up to a cap of 1600 of course, then it does nothing.

So if you go on a vacation, you set it and come back to 1600 BA as long as you could pay for it.

PDR, this game is "designed" to give those who are willing AND able to spend valuable time playing a bit of an edge. Which makes sense. If you devote large amounts of time to something, you should get at least more out of it than those who don't (or even can't). And it's not much different from any other game out there if you really think about it.
A lot of console games are designed with "save spots". If you can't make it to a save spot before dying/having to leave/sleep/eat/etc well that's just too bad. It's largely about TIME INVESTED. Imagine if you could just put things on hold with no penalty. What would be the benefit of being here more often? Clan players get bonuses by points. What if you could use ALL your ba for a while and get lots of points then protect yourself for a few days?
I'm not saying this is a horrible idea or anything but it would need a lot of careful planning. A vacation mode here might allow just what the maker doesn't want to happen... less time playing CB.
just my teeny tiny lil opinion.
:)

lol, pdr, i may have misread your post. never mind.
/me smacks his own large forehead.

Vacation mode on WG stops your resource generation. It's just there so you don't get attacked while you're away.

Windwalker July 18 2008 10:35 PM EDT

This would be a nice feature to be utilized for 2 weeks once a year! The penalty is already built in. No BA,no growth.

On the contrary, low BA regeneration rates contradict that theory. The better you're doing, the less time you spend, so that in the end those with less available time are still on equal footing with those with more to spend. That's why nobody catches anybody in upper echelons unless they are N*Bing.

...not that anyone would give up their lovely lazy BA regen rate to change this, mind you. Just pointing out that this is, in fact, opposite of your theory: the lazy prosper here on CB.

j'bob July 18 2008 11:18 PM EDT

ahhh my young grasshopping ooty, you see not the forest thru the trees...
first you can't get anywhere near the top without spending lots and lots of time here. (and lots of time)
and those who are at the top may not have to spend as much time on playing on a daily basis but they've sure spent A LOT of time in already
;p

QBOddBird July 18 2008 11:19 PM EDT

Au contraire, you can get to the top immediately for only 20 mil! (plug)

...plus with the new N*B and increased score/higher challenge bonus, it is easier than ever to get to the 6/20 zone.

Tyriel [123456789] July 18 2008 11:21 PM EDT

There is a vacation mode in WG because you are affected negatively if you get attacked (you lose resources, troops, and buildings).

CB has no penalties for being attacked, so a vacation mode is not necessary.

j'bob July 18 2008 11:23 PM EDT

and in order to run a very successful n*b what do you need to do?
put in the TIME.

CAKE!

QBOddBird July 18 2008 11:24 PM EDT

Yeah, for like....a month you have to put in some time.

After that you're at 7/20 and smooth sailing.

j'bob July 18 2008 11:27 PM EDT

HA! I didn't make the 7/20 till the end of my NCB.
(course I didn't buy ba or anything... and maybe I'm a bit of a slacker... and I may have missed a small bunch of ba because I just didn't have the TIME)

BadFish July 18 2008 11:34 PM EDT

NCB isn't NEARLY as easy to reach 6/20 as NUB. NCB's ba costs WAY more than normal. How much does NUB's ba cost? Why, it's free! That's what, 15x normal rewards then, if you count that you can buy hundreds more ba per day which also grant the monster bonuses? NCB is great, don't get me wrong, but NUB absolutely blows anything out of the water.

QBOddBird July 18 2008 11:37 PM EDT

Plus, j'bob, you weren't under the effects of the new score system....even I get a challenge bonus now at 3M MPR ;)

j'bob July 18 2008 11:41 PM EDT

You just be quiet and give me cake.
I win!

Sickone July 19 2008 12:57 AM EDT

Pshaw, I started almost at the same time he has... we were even in the same clan before it got disbanded :)
