My solution is in now way pretty. I didn't intend for the belt/drive train to have as much slack as they do. Whenever I try to tighten them up... it fails miserably. Ugly but working > pretty but broken!

I want to see somebody create a contraption for the Tube going up the outside of the wall.

I don't think that's possible, since you'd need to clamp it to the wall by force, and there's only one side. Clamping it to both sides of the same wall would fail since the rods can't be as long as the entire tube, and if so then they don't exert any useful clamping :)
