anyone know any good bands? (in Off-topic)

i like bands such as Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, Matisyahu, SOAD, Brokencyde...those types...any bands that are similar to any of them?

Soil - hard rock band, kind of a mix between system and franz. one of the few rock bands I listen to anymore.

definitely check out pandora if you get the chance. its a lot less involved than last.fm.

if you like franz ferdinand and modest mouse then you should check out the white stripes (and his side project the raconteurs). and if you like them, check out the rolling stones. I think thats all I got :) best of luck in your adventures for finding music.

My band. And there's nothing i'd love more than to get our music just a bit more well-known. I think we have some serious potential although the sound quality on those recordings SUCKS. At least give us a listen :D

Ok, let's clarify which Modest Mouse do you like? Real Modest Mouse or Good News For People Who Love Bad News Modest Mouse (not that that doesn't have its own appeal...)?

Personally, I have yet to hear a band as unique as Modest Mouse, but I'll suggest you listen to my three favorite, and all unique, bands-- Pixies, The Blood Brothers, and The Decemberists. I've also been listening to Animal Collective, The Arcade Fire, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, and Death Cab for Cutie lately. All really cool bands. All stuff that should be checked out.

If you want to listen to a real band, listen to Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace. I never stop listening to them.
Trust me, you won't be able to get enough of them, if you listen to even one song.
Other good bands would be Godsmack, Seether, and Rise Against.
Tool, and Evanescence are also good bands.

Going off the bands you mentioned, I'd recommend Awesome Car Funmaker, Cake, Citizen Cope, Interpol, Luce, or Spoon.

Don't know if you like instrumental stuff or not, but some good instrumental groups are Mogwai, Tortoise, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky, or Do Make Say Think.
