Worst Customer Service Ever!!! (in Off-topic)

Ernest-Scribbler August 11 2008 1:44 PM EDT

If anyone is in a region that comcast services. Stay the hell away! Our internet was down for 11 days of the last 14. They broke it at there end messing with our account after we bundled phone service with it. Someone fixed it after six days, only for it to go again in 2 days. The technician who came out blamed head office again. He had nothing to gain by doing this. When we said that we were considering looking at other providers because of the 6 days it took for someone to fix it the first time the person on the phone said that might be a good idea!!!!

I will never do comcast and i warn people who say they're looking into it and negate anyone who say they are a good company...

We played Counter-Strike with a guy who had comcast. He kept getting disconnected and we lost numerous matches due to it.

"When we said that we were considering looking at other providers because of the 6 days it took for someone to fix it the first time the person on the phone said that might be a good idea!!!!"

This doesn't surprise me. In my experience Comcast employees have nothing good to say about their own company, nor to they ever recommend it.

Eh, I have Comcast. And I don't get disconnected except one time a few years back where I accidentally messed around with my settings and I couldn't connect to the internet. I called up their customer service and I got back online. No complaints about Comcast here.

Phew, for a moment there I thought this thread was going to be about Staples. ;)

I have had Comcast for 5 years now at my present address.

Except for a period after Hurricane Wilma, when we lost power for 9 days, it has been very reliable.

I have had 1 outage longer then 3 hours in the time since then.

I personally would recommend it. Even more then DSL.

For all those who say stay away from Comcast:
Since they are terrible and would obviously not be the main provider (because of their crappy service to everyone) in an area, do you know of anyone better? Around Central, PA- Crapcast is the best crapshoot there is.. and they aren't too bad.

I personally haven't had any problems with Comcast.

In fact, our internet download speeds have been averaging speeds of 15,000 kbps, 22,000 on quiet days... so I'm very pleased with it

[RX3]Cotillion August 11 2008 7:57 PM EDT

I had Comcast when I used to live in Michigan. Every 2-3 months, our internet would go down for about 24 hours. Also, if we had mild thunderstorms, it seems like lightning always liked to knock our service out for a day or two as well. Other than that, I was pretty happy.

It's just like any other service. Jimmy says it's the best service in the world with no problems, while Bob has nothing bad to say about it.

Kind of like Cingular. When we had their service, nothing but crap. We almost ALWAYS had a 5 bar connection, but you hear more static than the other person talking (I'd hate to have 1-2 bars). Therefore, it's one of the suckiest cellular phone service providers out there, to me at least. Go Sprint!

InebriatedArsonist August 11 2008 8:52 PM EDT

Don't forget about the time Comcast accidentally deleted thousands of user accounts, mine included. As far as customer service goes, I once had to explain the concept of ping time to one of their phone techs.

I have never had problems with disconnecting, just so many issues with the above problem. There was lots of battles being sent from one call center to another as it was no ones problem.

I've been with Comcast for about a year, and I have no complaints. I'll be using them next year, with the addition of HD cable.

Last Gasp August 14 2008 1:48 PM EDT

I'm sorry to hear of the problems you've had and would be happy to try and rectify an issue if you're still having one. I am a proud Comcaster (Faster, faster, you're a Comcaster!)

If you are still having an issue just contact me here... I'll give you my RL phone and we can take it from there... I can have an escalation tech call you.

As both a customer and an employee I've always had excellent customer service and experience with all of their products. I use the Digital Voice service for phone, High Speed internet and their cable service.

And since I've worked in the industry for the past 15 years through many different owners I can say categorically that they are the best of them so far. AT&T Broadband farmed out their tech support to India - Comcast does NOT. It's done locally by people who are your neighbors. TCI seemed not to care for customers. Comcast has extensive training for all their employees with a high emphasis on customer service.

Do they make mistakes? Yes. Do they do their best to fix them? YES! Do they care about their customer base? YES!

Think about this... if Comcast only makes mistakes with 1/10th of 1% of their customers that's still thousands of people they goof up with. Any other industry that had a success rate of 99.9% would be considered AMAZING. But due to the large customer base, those angry people can create an image that goes beyond the reality for the vast majority of folks.

Regardless... I'd be happy to try and help if you're still having issues.

...Comcastic...

Here in Michigan we have WOW, and I'm very happy with that service.

And Cingular was terrible. I'm so glad to be rid of them.

Bell Sympatico is also very poor (southern Ontario area). They throttle p2p connections, reduce speeds during peak hours without informing people of the change in contract and when you phone in to complain they act like the only problem is that you chose their service god knows how long ago.
