New Users and Tattoos (in General)

Tattoos are a really great part of the game. It allows a piece of equipment to grow in between characters and add a huge asset in a strategy. It's effective and fun to work with!

But with the new changes, suddenly everyone wants a base tattoo the prices have skyrocketed. And the new users, with little money, have to wait till they can truly enjoy the strategy components of CB.

I propose that new Users be given a tattoo, perhaps as the final goal of the tutorial. I think this would benefit the game in many ways.

1. It would let players have a half of an effective character fairly quickly, which will hopefully introduce more long term active players. Tattoos are perhaps the most interesting part of CB, and to allow them to play with them, will hopefully hook them longer than the 1000 BA.

2. It makes the tutorial more rewarding! Perhaps the final goal should be made harder to match the reward (reach 25k MPR or something). It's something to look forward to.

3. Yes I am aware that many will just sell their tattoos. But is this a bad thing? More tattoos in the auctions will be nice, and giving new players an option to opt for a large amount of cash will also be very attractive. Why would you quit a game where you just made 1 million dollars?! Perhaps you'll spend it on that MH, or perhaps you'll buy that huge katana! It's still a good chance for new players to really get the gist of the game.

Which tattoo? Lesser or not? Lesser if fine, but I think regular would be more beneficial. Which tattoo? Give them a choice? I'm not so sure.

Thoughts and feelings?

Maybe a Lesser tattoo instead?

give them free reink tattoo option too so that they can have freedom to test out different strategy.

I disagree. With the NUB giving out mounds of extra cash, I see no reason whatsoever to give yet another hand out to new players. Let them save up and pay for one like everyone else here did.

Anthony's idea is better.

Why are you planning to multi and want a free tattoo? </actinglike user="Frost">

I don't think it's a bad idea; I kind of like the idea that they start off with one and grow it. Give them the initial choice, but let them pay to change it.

Actually on second thought, let lessers be inked to normal tattoos! Then they could buy a lesser from auctions, and use it until they wanted to ink to a normal tattoo. If you want to still give them a lesser as a reward then sure.

Either way, I think there should be a reason to use a lesser tattoo at least for a little bit. I never really understood why you couldn't let people ink a lesser to a normal tattoo in the first place for a larger fee, but now that the fee is larger regardless I see no reason to not allow this.

I do think NUB's should be given a choice of a free lesser (or perhaps make it a tutorial reward for completing it??) as it would allow them to better experience the mechanics of the game.
That idea would also increase the interest in completing the tutorial (which I currently haven't done; with over 3 million MPR).
Just a suggestion...

right now, new users have rewards shortly after they started. I think it would be much better to give them free stuff for long term achievement. Such as: reach 100k mpr: get something. 500k mpr get something else.
Deduction into bonus rewards can be done to compensate these rewards if really want to. However, I think longer term achievement can help new users stay with the game longer. This is a long term rpg. 6 months bonus can be long and boring without incentive to aid new players body pushing forward.

methinks it might be easier to just increase the spawn rate of base tats.
