What happened to QBs? (in General)

What ever happened to QBs? I liked the concept, but when I joined I never actually saw it implemented. Are we taking nominations? ^^ I think it's a good thing for the community.

The process for QB was happening for the last quarter 2007 - looks like it was never completed. Probably sitting in Jon's in tray.

QBs are extremely over-rated and should be eradicated.

I wouldn't shed a tear if my QB tag was to go the way of the Dodo. ;)

considering the backbiting and whining that have become the norm around them... not to mention the work someone has to put into it...

I will say there should be a number of others who get a QB before we kill them off.

Lets start by nominating a few.

PoisoN (give me one reason the #1 player shouldn't have a QB)
Tezmac (Can you balance PL and GA? I didn't think so!)
DrAcO5676 (the sickness)
Freed (the inspiration for many of us...)
Jayuu (even gone he deserves one, like it or not the man ruled the game)
Glory/Relic (always been a strat master, original and vicious)

Bottom line for me is that I think there are many people deserving of recognition. I'd like to see the wiki opened up to allow user content so we can create user bios and document the achievements of the greats of CB.

Titles don't mean much without a documented history, and I think it's important to have that history be part of CB itself rather than an outside site.

A new user should be able to hear Jayuu mentioned, search for him and from his user page click to see a list of the number of time he reached the top 5, how many times he upset the top person. The items he created... and almost more important his role in the final days of CB1.

History is what makes CB great, lets make sure we have it available to share.

I believe that the QB process is fun and something I always wanted to see in action. Can admins give the QB status or do we need to wait for Jon's help. Any chance of working out a few nominations and having an admin run a poll? I'm excited!

Oh, and it's not really clear to me, what are we looking for in a QB?

With the amount of people quitting... I think the whole QB concept should be rethought.

There was a poll about this. And it may have already mentioned in this thread, but I think that QB should be a temporary title. Otherwise it's only going to be QB's left playing the game!!

in that case, what's the rule on forward passes from past the line of scrimmage?

It would be totally OP to allow it, but to disallow it means handing the top spots to two or three people forever... :P

No way Nov. He did it first, but I roll with it just as well. I've been able to get back at the same score I was when using supah powerful RoBF-evasion.

But anyway, I remember Ranger used to be part of the wiki, what happened to that? I think he deserves some recognition for.... destroying everyone for years with his powerz.

Jon axed the Ranger page since he thought it was more appropriate to use the Wall.

Oh man! My hopes and dreams of becoming a QB were smashed before they even began!

However there do seem to be a lot of QBs. Maybe make them, HBs (half blenders). Or, just award it to people when they have earned it (according to the admins and jon).

Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that if QBs (or HBs if you read my above post) were chosen every time the admins and Jon felt that someone deserved it, they should be renamed to Blender Masters or something.
Also, this would remove the NEED to make someone a QB every quarter. So for example: One quarter there is one very distinctive person of the community who deserves it, and earns the QB title. The next quarter, there aren't many people at the time and someone still earns it even though he didn't do nearly as much as the first guy.
This would also eliminate the popularity contest and everything else that revolves around it.

Didn't both NightStrike and Sefton get leading amounts of votes for QB before, and didn't win? (NS should've gotten QB, but meh.) It's been made pretty obvious before that it isn't a popularity contest.


I'm with novice - there are still some people who deserve recognition. Let's recognize them before we do away with it.

I think QB pretty much has been done away with except for stripping the current QBs of their titles... why else wouldn't we have had one the past 3 quarters?

Novice your missing the whole point of what a QB is. Its not all about recognition, its about who can honestly help out the community best. why dont you go check the wiki?? jayuu left how is that honestly going to help out the community. So pretty much recognize people that left. kind of defeats the purpose I think.

the title of QB is given to someone who is an example to the rest of CB... The folks I listed, gone or not are exactly that.

I would love for you to further explain what exactly you are talking about...

At there times you have listed some great examples of a QB, but you cant honestly think they would be good QB's now. There not even here?
why dont you nominate some players that actually play the game, are active in chat and actually help out :p..

IDk.. I just feel that if you nominated them that would not fix the problem. you pretty much just said S**** you to every other active CB player. your saying someone that doesnt play is better than you Xd.. I know you didnt do it directly but thats how some people kind of see it.

I see the QB title as acknowledgment of accomplishment, and your ridiculous tirade is an insult to those I mentioned.

if there were to be another QB nomination, i would nominate Hakai.

I'm not vet but I would nominate TheHatchetman, this guy really helped me out in the beginning and has really defined much of my CB expirence.

Draco as well, he's one of those guys that I always see in chat, and have gotten much help with during my NUB days.

I nominate hacky pie (AKA: Hakai), lostling, slim (AKA: NightStrike), and hatchet. =)
