clan fighting tips ~ wiki advice page (in General)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] September 16 2008 9:55 AM EDT

i think it might be useful to create a wiki page, linked to the "fighting clan" page that already exists which gives tips to people regarding clan fighting.

i think it would be useful to split the fighting clans into hardcore, casual and solo. as for the hardcore, i was going to state that following guidelines:

1. fight only other clanners when at all possible
2. use all of your natural ba regen per day
3. buy all available ba per day
4. avoid farming while fighting when at all possible

i was also going to state somewhere in there that if you are running an ncb, then some of these things may be difficult while getting a challenge bonus, however you should still be using all of your natural ba regen per day and (this is one area where i am not sure of what advice to give) maximize growth through challenge bonus and hope for better days ahead or still fight clanners if your challenge bonus can be offset by a higher clan bonus?

other than that i was going to state that if you cannot regularly do the things above, then perhaps a casual clan or solo clan would be better for you. i would probably open things up for someone else to add some info regarding those clan types.

the reason i want to add this info to the wiki is to help people who are new to clans understand what is expected and how to go about maximizing clan fighting. i have typed these things out in the clan message box more times than i can count and would like to have a link to send people to instead.

what else should be added and what i have i missed? i don't mind creating the content for the page but have never created or linked a page to start the process. if someone else wants to get me started or even work it up then that would be great or just give input here on this thread.

thanks! ; )

number four above should probably read:

4. avoid being farmed while fighting when at all possible

You need #5

5)Make sure the people on your list aren't in your clan

I had about 4 people in my last clan who attacked another clan mate and ended up in negatives while ignoring every chatmail sent to them.

Sacredpeanut September 16 2008 10:54 AM EDT

The kind of people who do 5) probably aren't the type of people who would likely read the wiki :P. It's probably still worth putting in though.

I notice a lot of people don't bother with 1). I fight only clanned teams as a courtesy thing for my clan despite it lowering my average rewards. It's kind of like the prisoners dilemma where not restricting your fight list to clanned people improves your own rewards but at the detriment of the rewards of your other clan members.

you should actually check your rewards... there is a bonus to base rewards for fighting other clan members that often out performs challenge bonus...

Sacredpeanut September 16 2008 10:59 AM EDT

Really? I recall reading about that in CB1 but didn't think it was still the case.

I remember checking average rewards for clan vs non-clan a while back using Avoid's method. I noticed no difference.

Im in anarchy online and currently running a NCB. I use all my BA regen per day. I dont even bother buying BA its like 2000 CB per. anyway. we get a 14% bonus or higher. I just checked and I literally have 3 clan members in my fight list. The clan bonus I get doesnt make up for the challenge bonus difference that I would get if I added more clan members to my fight list. I am indeed doing what you said and maximizing growth and hoping for better days ahead. I have several people where i'm getting over a 50 percent challenge bonus. and everyone is over 30. I guess that its really okay that there isnt a whole lot of clannies to farm though. even though Im not fighting a whole lot of clan members, its alright because theres next to know clan members attacking me. So I can get by with lets say a clan score of 1200. and my positive score will be around 900. that is actually better than alot of people that get lets say 2700 clan points but only 50 of them are positive. So sure at times theres not a whole lot of clannies to farm on but chances are if thats the case then your not getting farmed yourself.

I stand corrected, there is a 5% increase in base rewards for fighting against teams in a clan.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] September 16 2008 11:23 AM EDT

Thats next to nothing. when half my fightlist is over a 50 percent challenge bonus.

TheHatchetman September 16 2008 1:22 PM EDT

dude, hardcore is when you only spend/buy your BA at certain times so as to properly manipulat the clan bonus on a daily basis judging by where your points are gonna be within the next 24 hours :P

For example, waiting until after noon on monday to buy BA results in an additional 500-1k points for your clan when bonuses are calculated next NCB.

Another example of hardcore is spending BA on Sunday until you would refresh to 160 at 4am. at which point, you only spend 3 refreshes worth of BA, then save until 5 am comes around and your BA is full... Why do this? at 4am Monday morning, every char in a standard clan is worth 4 points. After 5, 3-point clans start developing.

Figured I'd throw some hardercore tips out there :P If you like, I can make a schedule that outlines the times of each day where BA is spent best ^_^

In theory my ideas seem potentially killer. Only problem is that they would most likely on account for an additional .2-.5% clan bonus when they help at all :P

okay, with hatch's input we can make a new category at the upper echelon called "anal!" ; )

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] September 16 2008 4:36 PM EDT

yeahh lol. if anyone out there is doing hatch's plan. Your are for sure in your own category lol.

PearsonTritonRaveshaw September 16 2008 4:47 PM EDT

Aww come on guys, I just woke up. I don't want to read a huge block of text right now...

Maybe later.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] September 16 2008 4:58 PM EDT

well someone created the page for me, thank you kindly!

here it is so far, please add to it as you see fit and make any corrections needed:

Cube September 16 2008 5:04 PM EDT

I'll gladly add anything else to it if anyone can think of anything.

Do Hatchet's tips seem too unnecessary or not? heh

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] September 16 2008 5:08 PM EDT

i am not sure it is even possible, but should the link to it show up actually in the fighting clans sections instead of the main section regarding clans since the tips are all for fighting clans?

i forgot all about the swapping out ideas but had thought of that months ago when i originally wanted to do this.

thanks to cubicle for making it adhere to the style guidelines!

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] September 16 2008 5:10 PM EDT

ha.. cubicle you left out Hatch's advice?? :p lol..

Cube September 16 2008 5:16 PM EDT

I thought it seemed fine there; most of that page is about standard clans, and well I'll add hatchet's tips when I understand them, he seemed to have more secrets, or he can add them :P.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] September 16 2008 5:19 PM EDT

that is fine and it may adhere to the guidelines as well as the way other pages are done as well.

as for additions, now that the main page is created it is fairly easy to add to it or tweak it. thanks again.
