I'm looking for a short story...500k for grabs. (in Contests)

This may contain spoilers on one particular short story by Isaac Asimov, or someone else. (see below) You have been warned :P

If I'm not mistaken, this must be my first contest. Cool, huh?

Sooo, while I never found any good way to make a contest, this time necessity found one for me.

I am looking for a short story I read a while ago. I THINK it was written by Isaac Asimov. (MAJOR thanks to Mem for making me discover this man's genius. I'll be forever grateful, really.)

The story is simple. The dead come back to life. Everybody rejoices but then they realise that slowly, all human constructs and nature are crumbling to dust, and that the planet is slowly getting flatter and flatter, all topology eroded. They also find out that they no longer need to eat, drink or sleep. By the end of the story they then realise then that they are stuck in purgatory, a place eternal and VERY VERY boring, where they are stuck to wander, with nothing else to do but...exist.

My memory is fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure that my synopsis is accurate.

Find the title of that short story for me (of course I need to be able to verify it is indeed what I'm looking for) and 500k are going your way, tax free. Easy cash, especially if you've read it before :P

As a final word, I think this is a pretty popular short story, but check it out if you have not, It's the most frightening thing I have read in my entire life. Don't ask me why, though :)

Asimov is all right. And I mean that in an "All right!" way.

To mix it up, since Flatcap has you covered, switch to some Raymond Carver for a bit. If you're going to open your mind, might as well use the jaws of life and do it right.

Wow, one of my favorites of his is open on his site:

Little Things

Try that out.

I'm really curious about that story, do you have a link to read it?

Just the way I like it!

The Compilation Catastrophes! Is pretty good for short stories. It's actually how I knew the name right off

I think I must have read the story I was looking for in another compilation. I think it was a French translation so that may be why I had trouble finding it myself.
