FB hits like a wet noodle (in General)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 17 2008 7:30 AM EDT

I've got the 4th Largest atm, I'v dropped all my XP into it, just for an experiement, and at the moment it's over 8 Million in size.

And it's rubbish.

Hits in the first round of Ranged (I know, I know, Ranged penalites and all that) like a wet noodle.

Quick Kill it isn't. And for over 8 Million in level, I find it utterly uninspiring.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 17 2008 7:32 AM EDT

AMF 0.00

SUPERMAN's Fireball hit Zaekyr [209647], Raygnorak [257075], Locknar [168788], Gunther [141202]

Bleh.

I think I'll stick 8 Mil into STR and see what a small SoD hits for.

Wizard'sFirstRule October 17 2008 8:27 AM EDT

that's 1m damage in the first round. without range penalty, that's over 2m damage.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 17 2008 8:43 AM EDT

750K more like....

Besides, I had over 8 Million in FB, hitting for even 2 Million would be a quater of my trained FB, facing an AMF of 0.00.

That is wet noddle territory.

lostling October 17 2008 8:58 AM EDT

doesnt he have AC and EH?

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] October 17 2008 9:06 AM EDT

Are you invoking the almighty power of The FSM?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 17 2008 9:11 AM EDT

FSM? Free School Meals? :P

Lost, doesn't everyone have some form of reduction? Be it AC, RBF, MGS or EH. Or is FB 'fine' only if you tailor your fightlist to only face teams with no AC/Reduction? ;)

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] October 17 2008 9:14 AM EDT

He will smite you with his noodle-y appendage.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 17 2008 9:29 AM EDT

Ah, him. ;) I'm Agnostic. Till he smites me with his noddle-y powers, I'll hold him in the same state of possible existance as every other rumoured divine being. ;)

Relic October 17 2008 11:22 AM EDT

Sorry GL, but FB being a wet noodle is old news. I had an 11 mil effective level FB on Toast before selling him and it did squat compared to the damage output of SG. The most I was hitting single minions was 2 to 3 mil. I was being hit by novice's 9 mil effective level SG for well over 4 mil a pop.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 17 2008 11:56 AM EDT

I'll continue this rant I started with the damage reduction...

Choices:

1) Remove ranged penalties period (both damage and to hit)
They are confusing, and really imbalanced at this point

2) Remove the friendly backlash of fireball, it's just picking
on the few people still trying to use fireball

3) Give fireball additional damage that happens after the initial
hit for a number of rounds
Minion 1 continues to burn for [25000]
Minion 2 continues to burn for [33000]

Solare October 17 2008 12:03 PM EDT

I agree with novice. FB needs fixing, and those suggestions would be perfectly acceptable solutions.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] October 17 2008 12:06 PM EDT

removing the ranged penalties rather makes archers very very powerful, if not overpowered again. No counter for them remember?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 17 2008 12:07 PM EDT

GA? ToE?

Windwalker October 17 2008 12:09 PM EDT

The removal of backlash is a good idea.Gandalf never burns himself or his company! Anyway it would be a good place to start.

PearsonTritonRaveshaw October 17 2008 1:12 PM EDT

Aww but novice, Fireball is obviously overpowered! =P

Solare October 17 2008 1:21 PM EDT

There are many out there that love to see broken skills become uber-nerfed and virtually unusable, and then when people complain they tell them to 'quit whining.' But in reality, the game just needs to be balanced. No skill should be useless; no form of damage-dealing should be over or under-powered. Essentially, that is the ideal of having a game such as this.
As it is, there are spells and skills that need looking into, and are in desperate need of fixing.
Hopefully someday they will be looked into; however, change-month is more-or-less over and done with, so it won't likely happen soon.

Goodfish October 17 2008 1:23 PM EDT

Looks like three more months of wet-noodle-ball, then...

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] October 17 2008 1:43 PM EDT

"removing the ranged penalties rather makes archers very very powerful"

if ranged physical damage mods are removed, i would say make them like fireball and they can only hit once per round. with a 100 percent cth on elb and msb, they would just own otherwise.

i wouldn't count on this happening though as we have seen no indication from jon that battles are going too long now and that was the reason for the ranged mods was the percentage of battles ending in ranged rounds.

i do like the idea of a cumulative combustion type effect for fireball though. it would be nice if it just added another tick every round. that goes against fireball being the quick kill dd, but it really isn't living up to this standard regardless.

lostling October 17 2008 1:46 PM EDT

very simple...

FB vs COC i believe the difference shows only after the 8 or 9th round... and so... i put this forward to everyone... show me that on the whole FB users take much longer then this to win battles.... then we might have a case that FB doesnt not do enough damage....

Little Anthony October 17 2008 3:01 PM EDT

at 16millions FB is not a joke,

three4thsforsaken October 17 2008 3:02 PM EDT

at 16 million CoC, is DEFINITELY not a joke.

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] October 17 2008 3:08 PM EDT

If the game ever ends up balanced it will be dead 6 months later ;)

Wizard'sFirstRule October 17 2008 4:45 PM EDT

I agree with lostling. Yes, SG are doing 4m a pop, but you have already fired 5 rounds before they lift a finger. I believe the backlash is unnecessary, as you won't win once you get to melee anyway, but I don't think this is enough to tilt the balance.

3D October 18 2008 5:50 AM EDT

Do dry noodles hit harder?

Brakke Bres [Ow man] October 18 2008 5:53 AM EDT

if you ever been slapped, correctly, with a wet noodle it sure hurts.

{cb1}Linguala October 18 2008 6:08 AM EDT

3D, if the noodles are supposed to be burning, then yes, dry noodles will hit harder, break off and continue to burn your foot or shoes.
Wet noodles on the other hand...unless soaked in kerosine or some other flaming liquid, don't have that effect.
