Cancelling bids (in General)

I find it incredibly annoying that u cant terminate bids. I was bidding on a EF when my page refreshed so i went back and did it again but when my page refreshed it switched chars and the bid was placed on my tourney. It's just a suggestion but who else thinks we should be able to cancel bids.

I don't think so. That would be unfair to the seller.

I say it's only allowed if the seller can withdraw an auction while bids are placed on it. That would offset the stupidity of the first change with the stupidity of the second, and restabilize auctions.

I think that might be a nice addition but it should only be allowed to use in emergencies.

i say no to bid cancellations...rental cancellations are another matter though.

yes rental cancellations would be nice. It would be nice if you could pull your own equips out of rentals if they're sitting there collecting dust

I am with you on the rental cancellations. I have 3 things sitting in inventory collecting dust and have been for the majority of the rental.

I have no problems with not refunding any of the money. I just think it's silly that you can't send them back early if you no longer need them. Or maybe they can just go back into rentals for the remainder of the time left on my original. And then someone else could rent them instead of them sitting around not getting used. Of course, whether that person would have to pay again or not doesn't matter to me either.

How would canceling a bid on an item be unfair to the seller?

i also wanna know

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] January 2 2009 5:27 PM EST

one scenario: i want an item, it is up for 5 days with no buy now. it is an item that has been quite rare. it started at 1m and i bid it up high enough that no one else in their right mind will outbid me. 1 hour before the auction ends i find one with a buy now of 2m. i buy that one and cancel my bids on the other one.

that leaves only one hour for the seller to start back from scratch and try to get a good price. unless you give the bid back to whoever had bid the 1m. but wait, what if they bought another item in the meantime?

you could just start the auction over. that could hurt the seller if he set up his auction to get cash for another auction that was ending after his and he wanted to buy that item.

if you only allow the last bid to be cancelled, then one could still bid the first bid small, and then bid much higher only to cancel the much higher bid right before the auction ends.
